Arrow Season 3 Trailer

Doctor Who Criticized for Hair Ripping and Lesbian Kissing Scenes

I have not included the animated GIF so to not upset anyone
Mailonline has an article of interest concerning the recent episode "Deep Breath" has a scene that is upsetting to one particular fan who suffers from trichotillomania which is the compulsion of ripping one's hair out.  The scene in question sees the Doctor pulling one of his own hairs out and then pulling one of Clara's out.  The fan became upset at this action and like any other self mutilation act, feels the BBC was insensitive for showing this.  The obsessive compulsive infliction is rare and the woman in question realizes that most people have never even heard of it and that the BBC would have not even researched it.  I suppose there are many other fears and disorders that can be triggered by watching TV series of all types.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2737867/Doctor-Who-criticised-scene-characters-tear-hair-complaints-sufferers-rare-disorder.html

Later in the episode Lady Vastra has to blow air into Jenny's lungs (see episode).  This has obviously gained the attention of a few complainers despite the fact that it was not a kiss but more of a mouth to mouth air transfer.  The 'kiss' was part of the story and even if Vastra thought she had lost Jenny and kissed her then, it would have been all good.  The script telling us over and over again that they are married was what was obsessive! Still a lesbian inter-species kiss is shocking to some I guess.

This episode has been one a lot of us have been eagerly anticipating. Watching the how a new actor interacts with one of his oldest foes is something incredibly special, and this episode doesn't disappoint. After watching an interview with Peter Capaldi explaining how sinister the atmosphere becomes when a they are shooting a scene with a dalek, this was something I was excited to see.

Doctor Who - Into the Dalek Review - Spoilers

Review by Ken Parker

With a great kick-off for the 8th season under their belt, the producers of Doctor Who bring back the Daleks after a mere 1 episode break. This time there is a Dalek who does not want to destroy anything but Daleks. The soldiers fighting against the Daleks try to take advantage of this situation and send the Doctor into the Dalek to save it's life. How is this not going to end well?

The Story – the idea is a bit far-fetched and fairly surreal to say the least but by no means very original for Doctor Who. We have already experienced the TARDIS crew being 'shrunk down' on numerous occasions including “Planet of the Giants” and “The Invisible Enemy.” We have also dealt with the good in Daleks or at least the Dalek's potential of not being all evil in “Dalek” and “The Evil of the Daleks.” So with these familiar elements, was “Into the Dalek” any good?

Doctor Who - Into The Dalek Review (Spoilers)

Doctor Who:
Into The Dalek
By Phil Ford and Steven Moffat

“I am not a good Dalek. You are a good Dalek.”

The 12th Doctor Peter Capaldi has his first encounter with the Daleks.  Well it was inevitable that he would as every Doctor has faced the blobs encased in Dalekanium.  We didn’t have to wait long as in the second outing for the 12th Doctor we get to see that meeting in the little bit different type of story and I do mean little as Into the Dalek actually takes us inside a Dalek.

Doctor Who - Deep Breath Review By @TeganZAce

Doctor Who
Episode One
Deep Breath
Reviewed By Nyssa Ainley

First of all - Dinosaurs, Big Ben, Victorian London and a panicking crowd, who can resist?

Not to mention the not so elegant entrance of the TARDIS being spat out of the T Rex’s mouth.  A female so said Vastra to her wife, Jenny.  Oh did I not mention the return of the Paternoster gang?

On the muddied dock the gang ascertain that it is, indeed, the TARDIS.  In a wonderfully timed entrance 12 opens the door to Strax’s knock: “Ssh!” he says.  Then comes out in the rest of Matt Smith’s costume in a funny, garbled way describing Clara as the “not me one!” and “the asking questions one!” before confusing Clara for Strax due to their similar heights before swooning on the floor with a slightly dishevelled Clara holding onto the Doctor with Vastra quoting the Brigadier: “Well here we go again!” she says with a twisted smile her eyes gleaming with excitement as she does so.

George Lucas Almost Ruined Star Wars?? - NAH

This article

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/George-Lucas-Almost-Ruined-Star-Wars-Empire-Strikes-Back-Here-How-66923.html

is reporting that George Lucas did not want Frank Oz to do the voice of Yoda in Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back.

Obviously a different voice would not have ruined Star Wars and I would argue that Lucas was probably right in trying another voice artist.  I remember the laughter in the theater when we all heard Yoda for the first time and that it was obviously Fozzie Bear.  We now take Yoda as gospel but at the time it was not.  Of course Lucas would have many more opportunities to 'ruin' Star Wars.

Doctor Who – Deep Breath Review (spoilers)

By Ken Parker

So here we are, with a new season, a new Doctor and a promise of a new direction for the show. In my opinion Doctor Who had been improving ever so slightly in the latter parts of season 7. Concentrating more on character moments and more focused stories, there seemed to be less frantic dialog and story telling. Apart from a couple of stumbles (“Nightmare in Silver” and “The Time of the Doctor”), the series seemed to already be going in the right direction – in my opinion. Of course this was not the case for everyone but what of Peter Capaldi and the first episode of the 8th season? Fandom, take a “Deep Breath” and look beyond the veil.

Doctor Who Review - Deep Breath (Spoilers)

Source
It feels like series 8 had already started a month ago. Lots of interviews with Peter Capaldi in numerous magazines, the World Tour and of course, the customary excitement across the social networks.

We have grown to expect a lot of media interest just before a new series, but this year its been bigger, and thats possibly due to Peter himself.

I remember receiving an email from the BBC last autumn, inviting me to take part in a survey for Doctor Who. I recall a question, asking me if I thought Peter was too old for the role. What? Seriously? is that really relevant? Unfortunately, for some people this has obviously been an issue. To quote a few articles I have read recently, both David Tennant and Matt Smith have been described as "Boyfriend Doctors". This has been down to their age and good looks, and in my opinion, some of the unnecessary soap opera writing that has unfortunately turned a once asexual main character, into a science fiction stud to satisfy those in the audience who crave romance. Therefore, the BBC knew they would need to justify the massive change expected in series 8, and allow the younger generation of fans to experience the Doctor in a more 'Classic Who' style. Their need to justify this completely dominated the first episode.

If she goes there will be trouble. Apologies to The Clash on that one but recently The Mirror a UK tabloid paper has made claims that Jenna Coleman will be leaving Doctor Who either in Episode 12 or in the Christmas Special.  The BBC in a damage control move commented on the report in The Radio Times by saying, “It’s speculation at this time. People will have to watch the series to see if she’s coming back or not. We want to focus on the upcoming series.”

Doctor Who - 3 Days To Go Teaser

Out Today !!THE DELINQUENTS #1 | ARMOR HUNTERS: BLOODSHOT #2 | ARMOR HUNTERS: HARBINGER #2

At last...both of Valiant's Harvey Award-nominated buddy duos are getting together to make one hell of a (terribly) mismatched superteam in THE DELINQUENTS #1 (of 4)! You've heard of comic events? Well, this one is a disaster! James Asmus, Fred Van Lente, and Kano have put together a rail-ridin', hobo-smashin', cross-country rat race for the next colossal VALIANT FIRST release..and it does not disappoint. (Well, maybe their parents...a little. For shame!)

Also hitting this week, Joe Harris and Tr evor Hairsine continue Bloodshot's battle against frickin' ALIENS in the depths of M.E.R.O.'s underground base in ARMOR HUNTERS: BLOODSHOT #2 (of 3), while Joshua Dysart and Robert Gill pit Generation Zero head-to-head with an extraterrestrial infestation in the ruins of Mexico City in ARMOR HUNTERS: HARBINGER #2 (of 3)! You'll wish all summer event tie-ins could be this awesome...we promise!

The Avengers on Blu-Ray - No, not them, the TV series!!

Emma Peel will make her debut on Blu-ray on November 11 in the US.  Season 5 of the 1967 TV series, The Avengers will be out on Blu-ray and digital copy.  What happened to season 1-4 you ask - Well, the first 3 seasons were shot on video and may not benefit that much from a Blu-ray set and season 4, with the debut of Peel (played by Diana Rigg) is in B&W.  So season 5 is the first in color and film.

Meanwhile there are plans to release season 4 on Blu-ray in the Uk and France among other countries.

Doctor Who - Peter Capaldi Talks About Series 8

The second interview released by the BBC is with the 12th Doctor himself Peter Capaldi. Here he talks about being the Doctor, fan reaction and what advice a former Doctor gave him.

Can you describe your emotions on the first day when you stepped on set as the Doctor?

I was frightened and excited. My first proper day was stepping out of the TARDIS into a brand new world, which was exactly what was happening to me. Of course being inside the TARDIS you’re just inside a big box really. It’s not bigger on the inside, it’s just a prop and you’re in there with Jenna and a prop man who you’ve never met before. It was all a bit cozy. But it is frightening because you have to take on the challenge of this role, but at the same time it’s exhilarating because you are getting to step out the TARDIS as Doctor Who, and that’s an iconic role and a great position to be in.

How are you feeling ahead of the new series starting?

Apprehensive, excited, and keen.

What have fans got to look forward to this series?

Doctor Who - Jenna Coleman Talks About Series 8

The BBC have released two interviews for the return of Doctor Who this Saturday.  The first one is with Jenna Coleman who talks about The new Doctor, working with Peter Capaldi and what is in store for Clara.

How is Clara feeling about having a new Doctor?

For Clara it unbalances her and throws everything up in the air. She has gone from feeling safe - in moments of danger the Doctor would catch her - and thinking she had it all sussed, then suddenly this new guy has come along who she can’t quite access in the same way. He’s removed, he’s not as patient, and he’s much more alien and enigmatic. It’s really hard for her. Her best friend is a changed person, and it is a very difficult for her to accept that and move forward.

What is Clara’s relationship like with the Doctor?
