Doctor Who Companion Deborah Watling has died.

Deborah Watling who played Victoria Waterfield during the Patrick Troughton era during season 5 has passed away after a short battle with lung cancer at the age of 69.  Sadly there are only two of her stories that are complete (The Tomb of the Cybermen and The Enemy of the World) while two others are missing a few epiosdes and have been released with animation and telesnap reconstructions (The Web of Fear and The Ice Warriors).  She also returned to the role of Victoria in 1995's Downtime which is out now on DVD.  She has been a staple of the Doctor Who convention scene and her panels were wonderful to attend as she regaled us all in her stories of her time on the show with Patrick Troughton  and Frazer Hines.

The planet Dashrah is a world of exceptional beauty. Historical ruins; colourful skies; swirling sunsets…

Unsurprisingly, it’s a major tourist trap. So if you want to visit Dashrah, first you’ll have to visit Parking, the artificial planetoid that Galactic Heritage built next door. Parking, as its name implies, is a spaceship park. A huge spaceship park. A huge, enormous spaceship park.

When the TARDIS materialises in Parking’s Northern Hemisphere, the Doctor, Ace and Mel envisage a quick teleport trip to the surface of Dashrah. But they’ve reckoned without the superzealous Wardens, and their robotic servitors… the sect of the Free Parkers, who wage war against the Wardens… the spontaneously combusting spaceships… and the terrifying secret that lies at the lowest of Parking’s lower levels.

Doctor Who - The Lie of the Land Review

Doctor Who:
The Lie of the Land
By
Toby Whitehouse

“Hidden amongst 7 billion, there is someone like you. That’s why I put up with the rest of them.”

The final part of what has been known as The Monk trilogy has finally aired and I have to say that the final part of this story was pretty boring.  I did I found it pretty dull and I could not wait for the episode to end.  It came across pretty tedious also.  They spent way too much time with Bill trying to find and then get to The Doctor.  I mean they spent way too much time that I lost interest.  To me it seemed that each part of this trilogy just got worse form episode to episode and “The Lie of the Land” was by far the worst one.

Doctor Who - The Pyramid at the End of the World Review

Doctor Who:
The Pyramid at the End of the World
By Peter Harness and
Steven Moffat

“Bill, what have you done?”

“The Pyramid at the End of the World” is the second part of three of the story that features The Monks and their attempt to take over the world.  This story was co-written by Peter Harness and Steven Moffat and it more or less sets up what will happen in the next story “The Lie of the Land” which will be written by Toby Whitehouse and is the conclusion of this three part story.  Like what I wrote last week I really cannot grade this story until I see all three parts but so far I liked “Extremis” a lot better than “The Pyramid at the End of the World”.
