Utopia Series 2

Looking forward to this very unusual and odd series return.

Mini Clone Dance Party

This is great - the attention to detail is excellent.

This was done by Cynthia Galant, who plays the Charlotte, the young clone sister, in Orphan Black.

Carrie Fisher's Daughter Will Play Princess Leia in Star Wars VII

Billie Lourd, Carrie Fisher's daughter, is set to play Princess Leia in some flashback scenes for the upcoming Star Wars movie.

The movie is slated for December 2015 but Harrison Ford's injury may delay this release.  J.J. Abrams is requesting a move to May 2016, a move that Disney does not want to
do.

Continuum Season 3 Review (Some Spoilers)

By Ken Parker

I have to admit that there are some shows I watch that I am not “into” as much as others. Continuum is one of those shows that I feel I must watch but that if it got canceled that I would not be upset. I do often get wrapped up with these shows time and again and will find myself at a point where I can't get enough. Continuum is one of those shows and I will attempt to document why I have trouble with it.

Doctor Who - Series 8 Air Date and First Story Title Revealed Plus New Teaser Trailer

A NEW ERA BEGINS SATURDAY, AUGUST 23 8:00PM ET ON BBC AMERICA

BBC AMERICA releases a brand-new teaser and image in advance of new Doctor Peter Capaldi’s first season

Feature-length premiere episode to follow Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman’s first US appearance together as part of first ever Doctor Who World Tour

BBC AMERICA has announced the premiere date for the eighth season of Doctor Who. The feature-length episode, entitled “Deep Breath,” will air Saturday, August 23 at 8:00pm ET. The episode ushers in an exciting new era for the show as Peter Capaldi (The Musketeers, The Thick of It) steps into the role of the Doctor. Fans first got a glimpse of Capaldi’s Doctor in November’s 50th Anniversary Special, and again in the final minutes of last year’s Christmas Special, but the upcoming season premiere marks the first full episode for the Twelfth Doctor.

Capaldi will be joined by Jenna Coleman (Death Comes to Pemberley), who returns as companion Clara Oswald, and Samuel Anderson (History Boys, Gavin & Stacey) who joins the cast as Danny Pink, a teacher at Coal Hill School where Clara also works. Previously announced guest stars include Ben Miller (Primeval, Death in Paradise), Keeley Hawes (Line of Duty, Upstairs, Downstairs), and Tom Riley (Da Vinci’s Demons).
Leading up to the premiere, Capaldi and Coleman will appear together in the US for the first time when they arrive in New York on Thursday, August 14 as part of the first ever Doctor Who World Tour. The largest promotional undertaking in the show’s 50-year history, the tour will kick off in Cardiff, Wales before heading to London, Seoul, Sydney, New York, Mexico City, and Rio de Janeiro.

Mad Max - Fury Road

Quietly one of the biggest anticipated Sci-Fi films is starting it's promotional path to 2015.  Mad Max: Fury Road stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron and is set to come out next year.  The film is a reboot of the franchise that starred Mel Gibson.  The photos at Entertainment Weekly look appealing enough to keep my interest.

Pacific Rim 2 - 2017

A report of a movie release within the next few years that is not a super hero nor Star Wars movie! Guillermo del Toro is making a sequel to the 2013 movie Pacific Rim.  The movie is slated for April 7, 2017.

Pacific Rim was one of that year's best films for shear fun and action, unlike Godzilla 2014. (my 2 cents)

Harrison Ford's Injury May Delay Star Wars VII

It is pretty well known now that Harrison Ford's injury to his leg was bad enough to keep him sidelined for a while but it could be up to 6 months.  Since Han Solo was meant to be a primary character for episode VII there is a rumor that an emergency meeting has taken place to come up with a plan.  Options probably include delaying the film's release date to 2016, an already crowded movie year with all the super hero films. Another option would be to re-write the film and take that character out of the film.  Not a good option but perhaps they can move is scenes into the next episode.  Yet another option is to write in the injury and have Han Solo going around in a wheel chair. A final option would be up George Lucas's alley would be to CG Ford's head onto a CG body and have him do the part that way.

Some of these are stupid but not out of the realm of possibility.

Ricardo Montalban in Spy Kids 2 - oh boy.....

I think rewriting the part out of the movie or having him with an injury in the movie, depending on what he was doing in the film are good options given the bad situation.  Moving the movie to 2016, perhaps only until May (where the other Star Wars films opened by the way) might be the least damaging option of all.  We know Disney wants a Christmas movie release but this is Star Wars, and Star Wars is a summer film!

Doctor Who - A Sequel For The Five(ish) Doctors

It appears that Paul McGann has let the cat out of the bag possibly of a sequel for The Five(ish) Doctors.  Apparently Paul McGann made mention of the sequel at an event for the Cambridge Union Society.  If this is true it would be great news as The Five(ish) Doctors was a great skit for the 50th anniversary.

Orphan Black Season Two Review - Spoilers

by Ken Parker

Like most shows, I would expect the second season of Orphan Black to not live up to expectations. The impossibly excellent story and pacing of season one punctuated by superb performances all around really exceeded anyone's expectations who watched it. Raising the bar that high is always dangerous because you may not be able to outdo your self in season two but series creators have given it their best and have delivered a product that lives up to these expectations.

Marvel V. DC - The Next Stage - Looking at the Schedules for 2014 and Beyond!

By Ken Parker

Well, WB has released a very ambitious plan for the DC universe that certainly mimic’s Marvel’s success over the past few years.

May 2016 - BATMAN V. SUPERMAN
July 2016 - SHAZAM
Xmas 2016 - SANDMAN
May 2017 - JUSTICE LEAGUE
July 2017 - WONDER WOMAN
XMAS 2017 - UNTITLED GREEN LANTERN/THE FLASH TEAM-UP
MAY 2018 - MAN OF STEEL 2

This looks pretty cool but how will Shazam and Sandman do is a big question.  Man of Steel was not the massive success that Iron Man was and Green Lantern was not a determining factor in all this either.  Certainly the Batman franchise has been healthy but without Christian Bale and no stand alone Batman film in the plan, one has to wonder if DC can keep the momentum going.  The majority of audiences probably can’t tell the difference between DC and Marvel and will just see these as just more superhero films.  This may steer them to the franchise they have grown to know and love, Marvel.  Of course the Marvel path is a few years old now and perhaps the new franchise will be what people want to see, something different with DC.

Gerry Anderson News and Merchandise

Filmed in Supermarionation is a new documentary that is being worked on. Featured in HD, the documentary will have interviews, archive footage, clips and reconstructions.  It will be hosted by Thunderbirds' own Penelope and Parker (voiced by Sylvia Anderson and David Graham who both did the original voices for those characters).  It is slated for August 2014.

Doctor Who - DOCTOR WHO WORLD TOUR HITS NEW YORK THIS AUGUST

DOCTOR WHO WORLD TOUR HITS NEW YORK AUGUST 14

Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman make first visit to the US together as they travel across the world ahead of the new Doctor’s first season
First global tour follows last year’s unprecedented 50th Anniversary international success

New York – June 10, 2014 BBC AMERICA and the BBC Worldwide announced today that for the first time ever, the iconic sci-fi series, Doctor Who, will launch a global world tour to introduce Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor. The trip will see Twelfth Doctor Peter Capaldi, on-screen companion Jenna Coleman, and the show’s Lead Writer and Executive Producer Steven Moffat*, visit seven cities across five continents in 12 days to take part in a series of media and fan engagements to publicize the upcoming season to a global audience. The tour launches in the UK on August 7 and finishes in Brazil on August 19. On Thursday, August 14, Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman will appear together for the first time in the US when they arrive in New York.

The introduction of the new Doctor follows last year’s record-setting global success of the 50th Anniversary special, which was broadcast across the world simultaneously in 98 countries and released in more than 1500 cinemas globally. The special broke ratings and social media records for BBC AMERICA as well as set a new record for a one-night unaudited theatrical event - reaching No. 2 for the night at the US box office. Filming of the 12-part season continues through August. As in past years, the series will premiere on BBC AMERICA day and date with the UK in August.

Peter Capaldi on his excitement ahead of the tour: It’s fantastic that so many people across the world love Doctor Who. After 8 months solid filming deep in the world of monsters, Jenna and I are thrilled to be heading for the Planet of Fans.”

Executive Producer and Lead Writer Steven Moffat adds: “I've always thought we'd all be a lot safer if the Doctor conquered the world, instead of the Daleks. Now with Jenna and Peter leading the charge, it looks like it's going to happen. I'll be bringing up the rear to handle the exposition scenes, and maybe carry some bags.”

Richard De Croce, SVP, Programming for BBC AMERICA says: “It’s a new beginning for one of the most popular series in the world and we couldn’t be more excited to have the Twelfth Doctor live in New York to promote the long awaited return of Doctor Who on BBC AMERICA. It’s going to be epic.”

The tour marks the largest ever promotional undertaking in Doctor Who’s 50-year history and will kick off in Cardiff, Wales before taking in London (UK), Seoul (South Korea), Sydney (Australia), New York (US), Mexico City (Mexico) and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). More details of the itinerary will be available soon at www.doctorwho.tv/worldtour as well as reports from the tour as it happens, which fans everywhere will be able to enjoy across social and digital platforms. Doctor Who is distributed by BBC Worldwide to over 200 territories.

* Due to production commitments, Steven Moffat will be unable to attend to the entire tour. His schedule will be confirmed soon.

Rigor Mortis Movie Review

Rigor Mortis - The Movie

by Ken Parker

I used to be a big fan of Hong Kong horror films. I have fond memories of A Chinese Ghost Story, The Eye and Mr. Vampire but stopped following the genre after a time, until now. Rigor Mortis is a movie that is a reunion of sorts. With influences thanks to producer Takashi Shimizu (Ju-On -The Grudge) and starring various actors from the Mr. Vampire movie series, this new movie really seems to be a team up of talent and story all rolled into one pleasant package.  Some of the Asian horror favorites including the long haired ghost and the hopping vampire are put together into a film that does justice to those classic greats of the past.

Doctor Who - The Myth of The Macra: Looking Back On The Macra Terror By @Blackadder345

Doctor Who:
The Myth of The Macra:
Looking Back On The Macra Terror
By Will Barber – Taylor

With the slow death of the omnirumour and no further new information of missing episodes coming out it seems that the buzz has finally died down. However that doesn’t mean that we cannot still speculate about missing episodes we would like to see back, one such story being The Macra Terror. The story, broadcast during Season 4 marked one of Patrick Troughton’s first outings as The Doctor. The story was written by Scotsman Ian Stuart Black, producer of Danger Man and father of actress Isobel Black. Black had previously written The Savages and The War Machine for the series. The Macra Terror went under several different titles such as The Spidermen, The Insect-Men and The Macras.

Doctor Strange Movie Has A Director Possibly

Variety and The Hollywood Reporter have both reported that Scott Derrickson will be directing the Doctor Strange movie.  Marvel has not officially announced it yet but it apparently is a done deal by the tweet sent out by Derrickson.  Scott Derrickson is known for directing The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Day the Earth Stood Still and the July release Deliver Us From Evil.

Jupiter Ascending to 2015

Looks like WB wants to wait to release the Wachowskis film, Jupiter Ascending.  The movie, originally slated for July 18 is now slated for February 6, 2015.  This could be a good thing for the film to firm up edits and effects but targeting a non summer release seems to say that WB does not have the confidence in the film.

Doctor Who - Synopsis For The Masquerade

This month's Main Range release sees the third 5th Doctor and Nyssa adventure.  Their small trilogy wraps up with a story in 1777 France and the strange occurrence of the Steamroller Man. You can order it from the Big Finish website.

France, the year 1770: by special invitation, the famous 'Doctor', friend of Voltaire, arrives at the lonely estate of the lovely Marquise de Rimdelle – once a hostess to the highest of high society, now isolated by the strange, pernicious mist that lingers round the countryside.

But there's more in that fog than mere vapour, confesses the Marquise's strange niece to the Doctor's ward, Nyssa. She senses some uncanny machine circling the fringes of the estate, in the space between the shadows. Watching. Always watching. She's given it a name: 'The Steamroller Man'.

Meanwhile, the man in the cellar talks to the Doctor; a dead man, trapped behind the cellar walls. The Steamroller Man is coming, he says; coming to smash the place down. It seems the Doctor has been drawn into a very dangerous liaison…

The Underwater Menace is NOT the Final Doctor Who DVD - It Has Been Cancelled

Well, this is a bit of a shock.  Apparently the DVD range is dead according to Steve Roberts -

Again, does this mean that preparations are being made to handle all the missing episodes that were found OR has the BBC just given up?  I am wondering if the Restoration Team is getting upset with the lack of information one way or another because I don't think everyone of the team is out to deliberately give out mis-information.
