Sherlock 4 Season 4 - Another 2 Year Wait?

I guess good things are worth waiting for and the best British TV series by far, Sherlock will have to wait until possibly 2015 or longer.  Obviously everyone on that show is busy with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman doing other projects like The Hobbit. Cumberbatch is also being rumored to be in the next Star Wars film.  Fans are used to this as the recent season 3 was 2 years in the making.

Could Sherlock Be Returning Later This Year????

It is being rumored and it is a big rumor because, well, it was in the Sun that the BBC wants Sherlock to be back for Christmas.  Series Three did big numbers and the BBC wants its heavy hitter for Christmas and that means Sherlock and Doctor Who.

Now this is good news for Sherlock fans as it was two years before we finally got the show back to answer how Sherlock faked his death.  The downer to this story is the availablity of the two stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.  The show started filming in March of 2013 for a January 1st airing so it is possible to do it but it all hinges on the stars.  All you have to do is look at how many movies Benedict Cumberbatch does and you can see the problem with this.  Of course it could be feasible and a reality since Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss already mapped out Series 4 and 5 already.

Another roadblock is that Doctor Who will be filming and the summer is usually when they film the Christmas special and with the two shows going on at the same time could this dampen the quality of the two shows?  Well time will tell and hopefully the wait for Sherlock series 4 is less than the wait for series 3.

Sherlock - Moffat and Gatiss Have All Ready Plotted Out Series 4 and 5

Steven Moffat revealed in an interview which the Radio Times picked up that he and MArk Gatiss have already plotted out the stories for Sherlock Series 4 and 5. This is pretty good news and pretty much confirms that there will be two more series after Series 3 wraps up on Sunday with "His Last Vow".  Here is what the main man had to say about it.

“Rather excitingly, Mark and I, for no particular reason, we just got out of the rain and sat at the top of the  production bus… and we just started plotting out what we could do in the future and we plotted out the whole of series four and five.”

“So we have got plans – but our plans don’t tend to be ‘Let’s blow up the world or cast the most famous person in the world’ they tend to be ‘What exciting twists and turns can we add to this?’ And I think we’ve got some crackers!" "

"The ideas we had that day, I thought were the best we’ve ever had.”

Lets just hope it doesn't take that long for Sherlock Series 4 to hit our television screens.

Sherlock Series 4 Confirmed By Benedict Cumberbatch

 

The Radio Times has an article up that with quotes from Benedict Cumberbatch from the South Bank Show Awards saying there will be a Series 4 of Sherlock.  This is wonderful news as the filming of Sherlock Series 3 starts next week. Here is the quote.

 

"We've agreed to two more series but I could get into trouble for saying that. All I know at the moment is I'm doing these three [episodes of the upcoming series] and another three. It just depends on Martin and I's availability, how long we can keep it going. It depends on Steven's ability. I'd love to keep it going."
