Doctor Who - The Waters of Mars - NASA Confirms Findings

By Ken Parker

Sorry, I couldn't resist this article.  It has been a fantastic year for outer space and astronomy fans with the flyby of Pluto and the discovery of Earth like planets out in the Galaxy.  Perhaps the most exciting news was delivered today - evidence of water on Mars.  This was always thought possible but not confirmed until today.

So, Doctor Who fans will obviously think of the episode "The Waters of Mars".

Monolith Found on Mars

In addition to the ones found on the Moon and of course the huge one orbiting Jupiter, another monolith has been spotted on Mars.  NASA has released a photo of the Monolith.

Look! Up in the sky! Oh, crap! NASA satellite on crash course with Earth

Heads up, earthlings!
A NASA space satellite may be coming to your neighborhood very soon.

The "bus-sized" Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, according to a report by the International Business Times, is about to make a smashing return to Earth. Exactly where bits of the six-ton satellite will hit the planet is unknown. Exactly when is unclear, too, although Friday is the best guess.

Tatooine Like Planet Found

Not very new as this was announced last week but scientists have found a planet in orbit around two suns, just like Tatooine in Star Wars.  This is kind of neat to know we are discovering so much out there right now.

True: R2 Tweets from Outer Space! OK, it's NASA's R2, Not the One from Star Wars

R2 poses with astronaut Catherine Coleman (of Shelburne, Mass.)
C3PO was nowhere to be seen, but R2 is on the job.

The crew of the International Space Station on Monday activated Robonaut 2, the "automoton astronaut."

"Those electrons feel GOOD!"  read a post on Robonaut 2's Twitter page. "One small step for man, one giant leap for tinman kind."

NASA Report: Aliens may destroy humans

Check out the link at the Guardian website.  Apparently the aliens may destroy us before we threaten other worlds.  There are steps we can take to prevent this.
