Star Trek fans: Make your reservations now for a road trip to the 23rd century in 2014

Jordan could soon be the center of the Star Trek universe.

"The Final Frontier," it turns out, is in the Middle East. In Aqaba, Jordan, to be precise.

Sciencefiction.com is reporting that King Abullah of Jordan is among the investors in the development and construction of a Star Trek theme park. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2012, with an opening date of 2014.

Details are few. But developer Rubion Group Holding reports on its Facebook page that there will be a “…stunning Star Trek-themed center that will deliver a variety of multi-sensory 23rd-century experiences, culminating with a state-of-the art space-flight adventure that takes real-time immersive entertainment experiences to bold new heights.”

The park "will be part of the Red Sea Astrarium, a 184-acre themed entertainment resort to include hotels, theme parks, shopping, theaters, fine dining and a chance to learn about Jordan’s history and its advances in harnessing green energy," the website reported. The project is being creatively developed by Paramount Recreation and under the license of CBS Consumer Products

Abdullah, trivia fans will remember, had a brief nonspeaking part in an episode of "Voyager." See video below. He was a prince at the time. Now, it seems, he wants to build a Risa right here on Earth.
