John Barrowman as Dr. Who? In a dress?

John Barrowman - really - from "La Cage Aux Folles"
When the time comes for "Dr. Who" star Matt Smith to regenerate his career in another direction, filling his shoes (high heels?) on the popular sci fi show could be John Barrowman.

Barrowman, in an interview with The Press Association, jokingly volunteered for the part after suggesting the next Doctor should be a woman:
"Put me in a dress and I'll be the female doctor."

Seroiusly, Barrowman does believe the show should take the risk of having its first female Timelord.

"I think that maybe they should go out on a limb next time and try it. That always stirs things up a little bit and makes things exciting and it's nice to see different things and challenges happen like that.
"Listen, if Captain Jack can be an omni-sexual time agent and an assistant to the doctor, why can't we have a female doctor?"
He suggested former companion Catherine Tate is a good candidate. Perhaps closer to reality, Barrowman said he would love for Captain Jack Harkness to pay The Doctor another visit.
