Musical-comedy 'Stalking John Barrowman' to focus on 'Torchwood' star

A pair of obsessed John Barrowman fans have opened a detective agency for the sole purpose of spying on the "Torchwood" and "Dr. Who" actor.

Well, that's the plot of a new musical in development in Wales, "Stalking John Barrowman," according to WalesOnline

Barrowman, who portrays Capt. Jack Harkness on the two TV series, is not part of the play. But one of the female characters does sing "The Straight Side of John" to a cardboard cutout of the 44-year-old gay star. Musical director Patrick Steed told James McCarthy of WalesOnline that the two main characters - gay 20-something Jamie and straight 30-something Julie – "don’t see themselves as stalkers:"

“They don’t try to think of it in that way but they are definitely stalking John Barrowman. But it is all done terribly tongue-in-cheek. They are just being fans, they aren’t creepy in their stalking.”
Steed is working on the comedy with scriptwriter Jude Garner, who writes under the name Jude Ramsey-Garner, and writer Naomi Chiffi. They, like Harkness, are from Wales. They hope to premiere the production next year in Cardiff. Added Steed:
“I hope he’ll be flattered. There should be loads in there for the fans – it will appeal to a lot of people who love Doctor Who and Torchwood and people who follow his career.”
Of course, something like this could never happen in real life, could it? Seriously, right?
