Classic Doctor Who To Air On The UK's Horror Channel
The UK's Horror Channel has completed a deal with BBC Worldwide and will be able to show Classic Doctor Who stories on their channel. To start with they will start showing stories on Good Friday April 18th with An Unearthly Child. Then they will go into Who on Horror with a marathon of these stories The Mind Robber, The Daemons, Genesis Of The Daleks, The Talons Of Weng Chiang, The Caves Of Androzani, Attack Of The Cybermen and The Curse Of Fenric. During the weekend they will be showing one story from each Doctor and then on Easter Monday the will have a double bill showing in the morning and evening showing the stories from the beginning and in order.
Here are a few quotes from the people involved in bringing Classic Who back to UK airwaves.
Director of Programming Alina Florea:
Doctor Who is an iconic series and we are proud and excited to welcome this giant of British television to our channel. The line-up will include some of the most revered from seven classic Doctors – stories that terrified, thrilled and captured the imagination of children and adults through the decades. Doctor Who joins a long line of well-loved classic series we have endeavoured to showcase on Horror Channel over the last few years.
Commercial Director, TV and VOD Sales at BBC Worldwide Sam Tewugwa:
This is a great new way for fans to enjoy classic Doctor Who stories. Our discovery of missing episodes of Doctor Who last year highlighted the fans’ appetite for classic episodes to be made more widely available and we’re delighted to be able to extend that through the series available on the channel
You can find the Horror Channel on these UK cable systems Sky 198 and 319, Virgin 149 and Freesat 138.

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary: The Sensorites
The Sensorites is a story with a couple of firsts. It was the first story in Doctor Who's history to clearly state it was set in the future. It was also the first story to have a delay in transmission of an episode due to an extension to Summer Grandstand. Even in the 1960's sports overran the schedules.
Susan, Barbara, Ian and The Doctor discover a ship with a seemingly dead crew. Ian manages to 'resuscitate' them, and they explain to The Doctor and his companions that they were on a exploratory mission, and whilst in the 'Sense-Sphere' orbit were intercepted by the Sensorites who were basically keeping them prisoner on their ship by controlling their minds. They learn that the crew were put into a deep sleep by the Sensorities, but they never did them any harm and made sure they were fed.

Celebrating 49 years of Doctor Who - The Cosmic Hobo by @cheezypeas
This article is probably one of the most difficult ones to write. A show I adore with a rich and varied history is 49 years old and where do I start? How do I do such a wonderful show enough justice and pay enough respect to it? Do I talk about the first story I ever saw; The Green Death? Do I discuss the Seventh Doctors era I predominantly remember whilst growing up? Then I re-watched my favourite story The Mind Robber and I found my answer.
As a child I recall seeing a picture of the Second Doctor grimacing in a newspaper or magazine and I was actually a little frightened! Over time I have developed a deeper appreciation for earlier stories and in particular, the Second Doctor and his era.

Out on the (Time)Lash
First things first, hello! As you will all probably notice, it's my first post here for The Knights, with hopefully many more to come! If you like what you read, please feel free to catch up with me on Twitter @LonelyGod
Along with the general geek news and thoughts, you'll find my posts mainly focusing on Classic Doctor Who. Since last year I have started collecting the DVD releases (or soundtracks where appicable), and working my way through viewing them all, not in any particular order. To date I've seen a vast amount, but starting from today I'll be recording my thoughts and views on some of these older stories.
As you would have no doubt noticed, and therefore probably stopped reading by now, this first post is concerned with a story which has a rather dodgy, and in my opinion unfair, reputation within the fanbase - Timelash.
I want to start by saying that I don't agree with with popular fan opinion, so this won't be the usual list of things wrong with the story, or knocking the production values. You can see what I thought after the break...
Do you have any thoughts on Timelash? Leave them in the comments section below!
