Doctor Who - The Enemy of the World North American Release Date Revealed???

There is finally a release date for North America for The Enemy of the World which was revealed as being found last October and it is May 20th 2014 according to Amazon's website.  I find this odd that it is coming out after The Web of Fear which itself is coming out on April 22nd. Why I find it weird is because The Enemy of the World ends with a cliffhanger that leads into part one of The Web of Fear and also gives away the ending for The Enemy of the World.  But anyway it is good news for those of us in the US and Canada that this missing story will be out on DVD for us to enjoy.
You can pre order it from Amazon at this link.

Doctor Who - Missing Episode Hunter Philip Morris "Expect The Unexpected"

The Radio Times has an interesting interview with Doctor Who Missing Episode Hunter Philip Morris.  It goes into detail about his search for The Enemy of the World and The Web of Fear. The Web of Fear is out on DVD this week and the article is heavy discussing that story but what I find interesting is his finally quote " Expect the unexpected".  Now does this lead us to believe that there is more missing Doctor Who episodes to come from Philip Morris and that he has indeed found more. I for one hope so and hope something is announced soon.  You can make your own mind up for yourselves after reading the quote below and following the link to the Radio Times story but something is telling me there is something more to come.

“To the fans, never give up hope. Be patient. People are working very hard in lots of very volatile and dangerous corners of the globe, sometimes paying with their nervous systems, which is a hard thing to give. As always, TIEA are out there. Expect the unexpected.”

Doctor Who - Steven Moffat "US Doctor Who Remake Would Be Stupid"

Steven Moffat talking to the BBC said that US remakes of his shows would not work.  I would have to agree as I would not want to see my countrymen  make Doctor Who.  It would be insane to have two Doctor Who's going on at the same time and I believe it would not work.   He also went on a spiel about Sherlock also even though the US Elementary is an entirely different show all together.  Even though I agree on him about Doctor Who here is what the pompous one had to say about both shows.

"You couldn't have more than one Doctor Who in the world. It would just be dreadful. We don't own Sherlock Holmes, we don't even own the idea of updating Sherlock Holmes. That's been done before - several times actually. So there's no action to be taken. There are no shows from America that are big hits in Britain. They're all minor hits. Your mates may talk about them but no-one's watching them. They're getting squashed by the locally-made shows. Always."

Doctor Who - Could Doctor Who Lego's Be On The Way?

Fan Made Lego Image

It appears that the rights issue that has prevented fans from enjoying building and playing with Doctor Who Lego's might actually become a reality.  Nothing is written in stone and Lego hasn't announced that they will be releasing or making Doctor Who Lego sets anytime soon but now that the rights issue has been lifted Lego can go ahead and do it.  Lego Cuusco has stated that they are a crowd sourcing platform and if a product got 10,000 votes then the product is a go.  Here is a statement from their website.

Sometimes we have to turn down project submissions that refer to specific brands or licensed properties. We do this to avoid getting your hopes up for something we know we aren't able to make. In these cases, we already know the LEGO Group can't secure licensing rights to produce construction toys based on a particular brand or property, due to a conflicting interest with a third party.
If such a conflict goes away, we'll then be able to accept projects based on a particular brand or license.

...

Resolved Past Licensing Conflicts
We now welcome projects based on the following licenses that used to have conflicts:

Doctor Who - Australia's Whoniverse Event Is Cancelled

The Whoniverse convention in Australia has been canceled following the announcement of Matt Smith having to cancel due to a family emergency.  The event was suppose to bring the main 11th Doctor TARDIS crew to the four major Australian cities.  Citing that he is unable to leave the UK Hub Productions (http://www.thehubproductions.com/Events/Whoniverse/ ) have decided to cancel the event and are working on rescheduling the event at a later date.  Ticketek will also be in touch with those fans who have bought tickets to the event about refunds.  Below is the statement that Matt Smith gave the organizers to share with the fans.

"I am deeply saddened to have to advise that I will not be able to come to Australia for the Hub Productions' Whoniverse event. Although I wish it were otherwise, due to a personal family emergency it's not possible for me to leave England at this time. I truly regret the situation, and the disappointment it must be causing, but I'm hoping to be able to reschedule as soon as possible for the future; I look forward to see you all then."

Starlog Magazine Online

The magazine that many Sci-Fi fans grew up with, is now available online

https://archive.org/details/starlogmagazine

The magazine lasted almost 33 years (1976-2009) and was a staple in the sci-fi fan community.  I personally lived off Starlog in my sci-fi infancy and was an avid collector of the magazine for over 10 years.

SyFy's Being Human Canceled

SyFy has canceled its version of Being Human.  The series finale will be on April 7.  The series lasted 4 seasons, one season less than the original UK Being Human, which ended its run last March.

Top Reasons to Watch Orphan Black

By Ken Parker

No, I am not trying to get you to watch this show, well, maybe.  If you haven't already, then you have your reasons. Hopefully they are good ones and that you don't regret the decision to skip this superb series down the line. If you are on the fence I would like to give you my top reasons for watching the series.

In getting ready for season 2 of Orphan Black I revisited the 10 episode season 1 by watching the Blu-ray. I have already given high praise to this series and believe it is one of the best, if not best sci-fi series on TV right now. I have come up with a few top reasons you might want to give the show a try and catch up before the season 2 debut on BBC America on April 19 at 9pm.

Doctor Who - Peter Capaldi Makes Surprise Visit To BBC Worldwide Showcase Event

Peter Capaldi surprised the guests at the BBC Worldwide Event that showcases British TV shows to an international audience so that they might buy them for their networks.  With Doctor Who being the big seller and money maker for the BBC they decided to have Peter Capaldi make a surprise appearance.  He emerged from the TARDIS they had set up and then talked to Graham Norton for a brief moment. Here is what Peter Capaldi had to say afterwards.

“As a lifetime follower of the show, I'm delighted to see its global success. And I'm looking forward to sharing with the world the very exciting journey the new series is taking us on.”

Series 8 is filming now with an Autumn, or sooner, air date.

Doctor Who - L.I.Who 2's Doctor This Year Is Paul McGann

Long Island Doctor Who's 2014 guest list has begun and the first guest for L.I. Who 2 is the 8th Doctor himself Paul McGann. This is pretty exciting, especially seeing the news when I got home from Las Vegas, as he will be talking about The Night of The Doctor prequel in which he regenerates and his many Big Finish Audio Adventures especially the Dark Eyes series in which the second series is out now.  I am looking forward to seeing him the weekend of November 7 - 9 2014 and can not wait to see who they add next for a guest.  For more information and to buy your tickets and hotel information use the link below for the L.I. Who website and check out the video Paul McGann made to announce his confirmation.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 International Trailer

Official BBC Press Release on Samuel Anderson Casting

Samuel Anderson (The History Boys, Gavin & Stacey) is set to join the cast of Doctor Who as a recurring character in the new season, which will also introduce Peter Capaldi as the Doctor to millions of viewers. Anderson will play Danny Pink, a teacher at Coal Hill School where companion Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) also teaches when the series returns to BBC AMERICA later this year.

On joining the show Samuel Anderson said: "I was so excited to join Doctor Who I wanted to jump and click my heels, but I was scared I might not come down before filming started! It's a quintessential part of British culture and I can't believe I'm part of it. It's an honor to be able to work alongside Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman and I can't wait to show people how my character becomes involved with such a fantastic duo!"

While Steven Moffat, lead writer and executive producer, added: "For the fourth time in Doctor Who history, Coal Hill School is coming to the aid of the TARDIS. In 1963 teachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright accompanied the first Doctor. These days it's the turn of Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald. And very soon now, Sam Anderson as Danny Pink will be entering the world of the Doctor. But how and why? Answers are coming later this year in Peter Capaldi's first season of Doctor Who!"

Filming recently began on episode four of the new series, which will co-star Robert Goodman (Gangs of New York, Game of Thrones) and episode five, co-starring Jonathan Bailey (Broadchurch, Groove High), and Pippa Bennett-Warner (The Smoke, Death in Paradise).

A re-occurring character called Danny Pink, will be debuting this upcoming season of Doctor Who.  Samuel Anderson (Emmerdale, Gavin & Stacey) will play Danny Pink, A teacher at Coal Hill School. Currently Jenna Coleman's character, Clara, works at the school as well.  As some fans may remember, the original Doctor Who companion group included two teachers from Coal Hill School - Ian and Barbara.

Doctor Who - The Crooked Man Synopsis

The 3rd adventure of the 3rd series of Tom Baker adventures sees The Doctor and Leela at the seaside where people are dying and a creature is stalking the streets at night. The Crooked Man will be out in March and you can get it from the Big Finish Website.
http://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/the-crooked-man-800

Winter at the seaside. The wind blows. The waves crash. People are dying and a strange spindly figure stalks the cold, deserted streets. A typical holiday for the Doctor and Leela in other words.

When they stumble across a grotesque series of murders at the coast, the TARDIS travellers realise the local constabulary is out of its depth. Something supernatural has come to town, something evil. And it all seems to be tied in to a particular young family.

Monsters lurk behind strange doors. Tragic secrets wait to be uncovered. And somewhere, deep within, the Crooked Man sits. He is waiting for you.

'Heroes Reborn:" A few details about the 2015 mini-series

"Heroes" is returning, but perhaps without the original cast.
Like Claire Bennet, the indestructible cheerleader, you can't kill "Heroes."
The series that took off like a comet in the network TV sky during its first season in 2006 before crashing to earth is returning. We posted a teaser video earlier. Now, we have a few details. Actually, very few.
"Heroes Reborn" will be a 13-part mini-series, not a full-fledged regular series.
The big question on the minds of fans who adored the premiere season and would rather forget much of what followed is whether they will see any favorites from the original cast. The answer is unclear.
"Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy, but we won’t rule out the possibility of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in," Jennifer Salke, president of NBC Entertainment, said in a statement.
One person who will be back is creator Tim Kring.
In the meantime, NBC plans it will introduce new story lines and new characters through a web series.
Now, we wait.

Doctor Who - Should Fans Buy The Web of Fear DVD???

Should fans buy The Web of Fear DVD when it is released in the UK this week?  Well yes and no.  You see this release is a bit more complicated than the November 2013 release of The Enemy of the World.  For one The Enemy of the World is a complete story.  Philip Morris found all five of the episodes that were missing while one of them was (episode three) already in the BBC archives.   You see episode three of The Web of Fear is still missing and if you got the iTunes release you know they recreated that episode with a reconstruction of the telesnaps with the surviving audio.  So why should we buy a DVD that is exactly the same as the iTunes release?  Why should we buy The Web of Fear at all?

Heroes Reborn - 2015

Have no idea if this is a series, TV movie or what.

Continuity in TV Shows - Part One - A Look Through The Decades

by Ken Parker

What is continuity first off? It can mean a number of things. Is a character wearing the same shirt he did in the previous shot? Is their hair the same style when shooting the same scene months later? Would that character do that in that situation? If they did that 3 episodes ago, wouldn’t they be able to do this in this episode? If they learned this in season 2, why are they now doing that in season 4? There are a lot of things that continuity can be and for fans who watch their favorites again and again, continuity is even more important. The following article will look at a few examples but will focus on Doctor Who and Space: 1999. Both of these shows are unique in the discussion of continuity. Doctor Who, being a serial, always had strong continuity and has had help from fans and writers in keeping the Doctor Who universe relatively intact.Space: 1999 is a prime example of 70's TV without continuity but shows those flaws more obviously with a second season riddled with change. As with Doctor Who, fiction and ongoing products over the years have patched up many of the 'errors' seemingly made within their continuities.

Farscape - The Movie!!!!!!

As reported by a few sources, writer Justin Mondo is working on a script for a TV movie for Farscape. The movie will be a continuation of the comic series which sees John and Aeryn's son, D'Argo, now 19 years old joining his parents on a new adventure. Details are sketchy but it has been over 7 years since the final Farscape story, the mini-series The Peacekeeper Wars and the comic ended in 2011.  We will no doubt keep you posted on any further developments.

Doctor Who - Steven Moffat Would Quit Doctor Who Before Sherlock

Here is something that I have seen on a lot of Doctor Who websites and it is quite interesting but makes a lot of sense.  Steven Moffat was asked which show he would give up doing first Doctor Who or Sherlock and the answer was one I guessed he would make and that would be Doctor Who and here is Steven Moffat's explanation.

“Eventually, I’ll stop doing Doctor Who because it stops me doing anything else, but Sherlock doesn’t swamp my schedule. I could imagine we’ll come back and do Sherlock fairly often for many years, rather than very often for a few years."
Steven Moffat is currently working on Series 8 of Doctor Who the first series of the Peter Capaldi era and with Mark Gatiss is working on the 4th series of Sherlock.

Doctor Who Missing Episodes - Latest Comments

Nothing official to report on the potential Missing Episode front but there have been some developments that could be seen as some evidence or at least some hope.  Things have been quiet when it comes to rumors but the prevalent theory that is going around is that there might be an announcement on Easter weekend.  What this announcement will contain, who knows.  There are so many things being discussed on the forums, it is hard to even guess.  Some rumors state that the episode "Marco Polo" has been restored and is ready for release any time.  Others state nothing has been restored and no evidence of anything being found.

Steve Roberts, of the Restoration Team went on stage this past weekend at Gallifrey One to basically rip up the detailed information of the "omni-rumor" stating that it was untrue.  He also went on to state that he truly believes that episode hunter Philip Morris has found more missing Doctor Who and that "Marco Polo" was one of those stories.  Roberts has no evidence to support this, he has not seen it or heard of anyone seeing it or worked on it.  This flies in the face of restored reports but, and more importantly, seems to give pretty good support to the possibility that we will see some more found Doctor Who episodes.

Again, this is all guess work and hearsay and we are still not going to dwell on the rumor itself and our individual author opinions about the topic.  We just have to patiently wait.

Here is a link to a Steve Roberts interview where he talks about the Omni-rumor and the potential find of "Marco Polo."

Doctor Who - Better Pic Of Karen Gillan As Nebula From Guardians of the Galaxy

Here is a better picture of Karen Gillan as Nebula from Guardians of the Galaxy.  The trailer is up also and you can see it HERE.

Doctor Who - 50th Anniversary Collectors Edition DVD/Blu Ray

It looks like there is going to be a 50th Anniversary Collection on the way.  The BBFC have passed a bunch of VAM's for a forthcoming release.  The have cleared extras The Science of Doctor Who and The Ultimate Guide along with an extra that is around 8 minutes long.    I'm hoping the Fiveish Doctors will be part of this set along with a Blu Ray version of An Adventure In Space and Time.  More info will be reported once we learn more about this collection.

Doctor Who - Karen Gillan Tweets First Screen Test Pic For Doctor Who

Karen Gillan tweeted a picture of her first screen test with Matt Smith for her audition for Amy Pond.  It is pretty interesting to see how young they look and how different Matt Smith's costume looks when he started to when he left the role.

Doctor Who - Are The Daleks Set To Return In Series 8????

Could the Daleks be returning in Series 8 of Doctor Who?  It has been on a lot of Doctor Who websites that they are. It seems that the sites are picking up an article in The Star (Grain of salt) that the Daleks will be facing off against Peter Capaldi's Doctor.  It makes sense for them to return and face off against a new Doctor but so soon since they have been done to death in the last two specials of 2013.

The article states that is has been a lifelong dream of Peter Capaldi's to face the Daleks as The Doctor and I'm sure he will be getting his wish and have his dream become a reality.  Lets just hope it is a good story and that they give us a different take or twist with the Daleks instead of the same old same old.

You can read the article by The Star here: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/showbiz-tv/hot-tv/365780/Dr-Who-New-doc-Peter-Capaldi-lives-his-teen-dream

Doctor Who - The Moonbase Worldwide Americas Region 1 DVD Release Error

Steve Manfred is reporting that there is an error in the authoring of Doctor Who "The Moonbase" region 1 DVD release for America.  The DVD story was authored at 24 frames per second instead of the 60 required to take advantage of the Vid-Fire process. The episodes play slightly slower than usual.

The DVD is still playable and Manfred states that he has not heard about any recall from Worldwide but thinks that there might not be one.
