Doctor Who Series 7 North America Release Details Including 2011 Christmas Special

BBC Home Entertainment and BBC America Shop has released details for the North America release of Series 7 Boxsets for Doctor Who.  The DVD and Blu Ray will be out September 24th and will include the 2011 Christmas Special The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe in case anyone was wondering if they had to buy that one separate.  The press release with all the details is below.

In The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe, the 2011 Doctor Who Christmas Special, the Doctor proves that sometimes wishes really do come true when his mysterious gift leads Madge Arwell and her two children to a magical wintry wonderland. Then, in the first part of series seven, the Ponds (Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill) make their final voyages with the Doctor. They save a spaceship full of dinosaurs, don Stetsons in the Wild West and are even kidnapped by the Doctor's oldest foe. But when they arrive in Manhattan the Weeping Angels are waiting for them - and the Doctor has to say goodbye to his companions forever.

The 2012 Christmas special, The Snowmen, brings the Doctor a new friend (Jenna-Louise Coleman) in Victorian London - but has he already met her before? And will she be able to pull him from his mourning in time to save London from the chilling menace that threatens it? The final eight episodes of series seven see the Doctor and his new companion battle monsters on distant alien planets, become trapped in a Russian submarine with a deadly passenger, chase terrifying ghosts, and come face-to-face with an army of upgraded Cybermen. When his friends are kidnapped, the Doctor and Clara are forced to visit the fields of Trenzalore, where the question that must never be answered is finally asked… and the Doctor uncovers the secret of the Impossible Girl.

The Name of the Doctor – or, why it might be ok to like this finale.

This is not really a review. Reviews have been made, theories pondered, questions raised, complaints and likes broadly and specifically debated all over.

This is one person’s pondering, after two viewings of The Name of the Doctor, and after going back to older episodes both in pre-break and post-break (not doing Classic vs New Who) Doctor Who. After all that, I have concluded that it just might be ok to like, even love, the finale.

Of course, this is all just my opinion.  See what you think.

It is here. The long anticipated and leaked story, thanks to a BBC America Shop error, of Series 7B finale is finally here.   The Name of The Doctor takes place at the place where The Doctor should never go Trenzalore what mysteries will be revealed there and will they are satisfying or will the fans not like what is revealed.  The Name of The Doctor also promises to reveal the secret behind Clara.   Lots of things going on in this story including a new villain and an old villain we have seen twice before this series.  So did The Name of The Doctor give us the goods or was it another disappointing series finale that has been the norm to often with Doctor Who.  Read on to find out what I think about The Name of The Doctor.

Doctor Who Fans Please Don't Spoil "The Name of The Doctor"

 

What appears to be a pretty big mistake has taken place here in North America as the Blu Ray sets of Doctor Who Series 7B have already been shipped and received by fans as early as Saturday.  So fans have two options. Stay off the internet and avoid Twitter, Tumbler and Facebook and Gallifrey Base or they can do the sensible thing and if they have the Blu Ray Set DO NOT POST SPOILERS!!!!

So what caused all this is a production error over at BBC America Shop has sent the sets out early and some fans have been lucky enough to receive them.   But be warned as some douchebag fans have found it to be extremely funny to spoil it for you so beware of the trolls and haters posting spoilers for The Name of The Doctor.

Production error in US means DW bluray shipped early. Let's hope no one spoils it for those who want to enjoy it together on Sat. Please RT

Neil Gaiman On Doctor Who "Nightmare In Silver"

Radio Times has an interview up with Neil Gaiman and he gives a pretty good description of his new Doctor Who story Nightmare in Silver.

First he gives a brief synopsis of the story.

The Doctor has been talked by Clara into taking the two kids she looks after, Artie and Angie, for an excursion, a day out, and he decides to take them to Hedgewick's World, the biggest, best and most wonderful amusement park in the galaxy, a quarter of a million years in the future, because he has a golden ticket and it gets four people in for free, gets you free ice creams and it gets you to the front of any line, which is great because the lines for the Spacey Zoomer can go on for weeks. And that's where it starts.

Unfortunately, it also starts with them discovering that Hedgewick's World has been closed for several years and there's almost nobody on it now except for a small army troop on manoeuvres and a mad old showman named Mr Webley who landed his spaceship there after it closed and is now there with a Cyberman that plays chess. That's where it begins. This is also 1,000 years after the end of the big human/Cyberman war – where we won.

He also gives a description of the characters that will be in the story.

Jason Watkins plays Mr Webley, this wonderful, slightly alcoholic old showman touring the universe with a waxworks and a chess-playing Cyberman. Warwick Davis is his henchman, who is called Porridge. He's affable, sweet and helps Webley and cannot wait to get off this planet.

Tamzin Outhwaite is a captain named Alice Ferren who's in charge of the platoon doing troop exercises on an abandoned amusement park planet and as we discover, as the story goes on, it's actually a punishment platoon. They're all people who've got into trouble. She was sent there for disobeying orders. They're not the kind of crack troop you'd want if it so happened that a Cyberman moves in – a new model Cyberman that we haven't seen, who is absolutely lethal and hyper-intelligent.
