Doctor Who – Face The Raven – Review (spoilers)

By Ken Parker

This is a very interesting episode and it is obvious that the number of open endings in it means that the story still has to be completed. After what some consider to be one of the worst episodes in years, "Sleep No More", we have “Face the Raven” which is a very talky almost murder mystery type of plotline. Rigsy (seen in last season's “Flatline”) is in trouble and calls the Doctor and Clara. He has a tattoo of a number on his neck that is counting down. The team investigates and locates a hidden street in London that acts as a sanctuary for stranded aliens on Earth. It appears that Rigsy killed one of those aliens and the countdown is when he will die. He has totally forgotten about the previous day. What the real story is concerns Ashildr (Maisie Williams) and yet another elaborate plan to capture the Doctor. Who set the trap and why is to be determined next episode but that is not important right now.

Doctor Who - It's Official!! Jenna Coleman Leaves Doctor Who!!!

It's official.  The BBC and Jenna Coleman have announced that she has indeed left Doctor Who.  She has left the show to take on the role of Queen Victoria for a ITV.  The manner in which she leaves or in which episode is still under wraps as there must be some surprises but I'm going to guess it will not be at Christmas or the Series 9 Finale.   Full press release at the link and below Jenna Coleman on the Grimmy Show.

Doctor Who - Here We Go Again "Is Jenna Coleman Leaving Doctor Who?"

A few news sites have picked up on The Mirror's story that Jenna Coleman is leaving Doctor Who. Now The Mirror is a tabloid newspaper and any news from it needs to be taken with a grain of salt. It could be true this time as Jenna Coleman has been on the show for about three series.  There has been no response from the BBC or the Doctor Who production staff about Jenna Coleman leaving.  I'm sure when the time is right they will release a statement.  But in the meantime follow the links for more on this story.

Doctor Who - Is Jenna Coleman Staying Now???

Hold everything. It appears that Jenna Coleman isn't ready to leave the TARDIS just yet.  Apparently an article in The Mirror (Yes I know grain of salt) is saying that Jenna Coleman has changed her mind and isn't leaving at Christmas after all but sometime in the middle of Series 9.  If true it does help the reasoning for the TARDIS set at the Experience being closed for a while which would lead you to believe for them to be reshooting the ending.  But also there has not been any official word that she was indeed leaving at Christmas either. So far it has been speculation and rumor and time will tell in less than a month is she is leaving or not.

Doctor Who - Death In Heaven - Review with Spoilers

By Ken Parker (who is writing this past his bed time)

In order to properly review this episode let me first give you a quick background of my viewings this season. I have enjoyed most of the episodes this season and have felt they have been more focused and even from the start. Peter Capaldi's Doctor has given the show a slower stability that appeals to my love of the classic series. I have watched most episodes more than once before reviewing and have been surprised that I have liked most of them more after the second viewing. This review is after one viewing and after watching it again tomorrow if I change my mind I may revisit the review again. I have one word for this episode – Awkward!!

Okay, where to begin. This story in almost every scene was uncomfortable for me on every level. There was so much that happened that did not seem to work or gel. Let's go -

Doctor Who - Jenna Coleman Will She Stay Or Will She Go Now

If she goes there will be trouble. Apologies to The Clash on that one but recently The Mirror a UK tabloid paper has made claims that Jenna Coleman will be leaving Doctor Who either in Episode 12 or in the Christmas Special.  The BBC in a damage control move commented on the report in The Radio Times by saying, “It’s speculation at this time. People will have to watch the series to see if she’s coming back or not. We want to focus on the upcoming series.”

NO NO NO!! Jenna Coleman is Leaving Doctor Who

According to the Mirror the actress is leaving the part of Clara at the Christmas Special this year.  I thought she was the best companion in a long time and was just watching an episode today and thinking that she could be in the series for a long time to come - guess not.

Not sure why the article states that she will be the longest standing companion ever though.
