Finally! Doctor Who "Shada" is Complete

After 38 years the abandoned Season 17 story that was to be the finale of that season is finally completed.  The Tom Baker story Shada is finally completed using animation and the the voices of the original cast.  Shada was never finished as filming was interrupted during a strike at the BBC.  This new release will incorporate all the finished scenes and fill in the gaps with animation. Shada will be released on DVD and Blu Ray in the UK on December 4th and for digital download on November 24th.   You can view the teaser below and the details for the three disc release below.

Doctor Who: Shada Book Review

Shada the incomplete Doctor Who story from Tom Baker’s Era has been finally released in book form.  The season 17 story that was partially filmed but was scrapped due to a strike at the BBC is now a getting an update by writer Gareth Roberts.  The remaining footage has been released by the BBC in a VHS special way back in 1992 and Big Finish did a version of it with Paul McGann taking over for Tom Baker in the role of the Doctor. 

So now we have the book and the question is does Shada keep the charm and quirkiness that original writer Douglas Adams had intended?

A blast from the past.

A few days ago, we told you how "Shada," a 32-year-old Dr. Who story by the legendary Douglas Adams, finally had been completed - through animation. The original filming, with Tom Baker as the Timelord, was interrupted by a strike at the BBC and never finished.

The only problem: the man who financed the new "Shada," record producer Ian Levine, does not own the rights to the story. He needs to obtain permission before the episode can be released to the public.

A Dr. Who episode, written by Douglas Adams ("The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"), has awesome potential, right? And it may yet see the light of day, despite the fact that the legendary Adams died in 2001.

"Shada," a story penned by Adams with Tom Baker as The Doctor, was meant to be broadcast in 1980. Filming was never completed, however, because of a strike at the BBC.
