Star Trek Into Darkness

According to TrekMovie the next Star Trek movie title will be Star Trek Into Darkness. Several titles had been tested over the summer and this one seems to have won for now.  I personally don't like the inclusion of Star Trek into the meaning of the title.  There is no colon, it is Star Trek Into Darkness.  What would be the next movie title, Star Trek Across The Universe or Star Trek At Warp Speed.  Anyhow, the movie is out in 2013.

Has Benedict Cumberbatch's Star Trek 2 Villain Been Revealed????

Well if it is true and not a red herring it will make for a pretty interesting movie.  But to the rumor at hand it appears that Karl Urban has let it slip who Benedict Cumberbatch might be playing while talking to SFX to promote Judge Dredd.   Karl Urban who plays Doctor McCoy said this to SFX.

"He's awesome, he's a great addition, and I think his Gary Mitchell is going to be exemplary."

Well if it is true like I said above it will be pretty awesome.  Which is good since I did not want to see Kahn as his story has been done already.  So for you newbies to the Trek universe you should read the info about him from this link to Star Trek Wiki.

Chris Pine discusses 'Star Trek 2'

Together again - and coming not so soon to a theater near you.

Thanks to Christina Radish at Collider.com, we've got a few quotes from Chris (Captain James T. Kirk) Pine on the status of 'Star Trek 2,' which is less than 11 months from its premiere (May 17, 2013, to be precise).

Collider: How is the new Star Trek film?

PINE:  Oh, it’s good!  What am I going to tell you?  Those big films are scary things.  There’s so much money behind those things.  There’s that hype.  You enter a machine.  I’m just happy that the people behind it were such good, welcoming types.  J.J. [Abrams] runs that ship.  J.J. is a wonderful guy.  What they bring to this kind of film is a small character-driven story, matched with robots or aliens or spaceships.  That’s a very hard thing to do, and a lot of people don’t pay attention to that.  It’s really interesting that, in The Avengers, the character that people relate to is The Hulk, and I think the reason why they relate to The Hulk is because he’s fragile and human and faulty.

Sherlock Cast In New Star Trek Film As The Baddie!!!!

It is being reported that Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch has been confirmed as being cast in J.J Abrams sequel to Star Trek.  That is pretty cool news but what makes all the news pretty interesting is the news that he may be the main villain in the film also.  You can read all about it at the link below.

Simon 'Scotty' Pegg says Khan not in 'Star Trek 2' script

He swears he's telling the truth, the whole truth ...

From the "It Must Be True, It's on the Internet File," we've all heard from many unofficial sources that the villain of "Star Trek 2" is going to be none other than our favorite genetically engineered dictator, Khan. So Simon Pegg, who will reprise his role as Scotty in the film, must have some insight into the movie after reading the script, right? Well, here's what he told MTV:

"I haven't heard the name Khan come up. Not to say it won't come up, but I have heard no mention of him whatsoever. He is a great villain. I don't want to say too much and then have to eat my words as I often do, but we've seen Khan [in a 'Trek' movie before]. To see him again, how much value is there in that? I don't know."

Meet the new Khan: Edgar Ramirez

Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez - didn't he play shortstop for the Red Sox back in the 1980s? - is the choice of director J.J. Abrams to play Khan in "Star Trek 2," according to Variety.

Abrams appears to be moving quickly from Plan A - Benicio Del Toro, who bowed out when he wasn't offered enough quatloos for the role made famous in the original TV series and "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan" by Ricardo Montalban.

Ramirez is not well-known to American audiences, obviously. But that shouldn't make any difference, since it would be his performance that is most important. And he does have a role in next year's "Wrath of the Titans," and that's kind of close to "Wrath of Khan," right?

Plan C, according to Variety, would be another unknown in Jordi Molla.

Abrams needs to cast his Khan Noonien Singh soon because production begins next month.

We're not totally sold on the recycling of a Classic Trek villain for the new movie. Then again, no one asked us.

Benicio Del Toro and Star Trek Not Happening Plus Peter Weller Casted

Well if Kahn is gonna be in the new Star Trek movie (I Hope Not) then it won't be played by Del Toro.  According to many Internet Movie Sites Del Toro has turned down the part mainly due to contract negotians falling through.  Well now we've been having tons of speculation about Kahn in the new movie with J.J. Abrams coming out saying Del Toro isn't playing Kahn.  Well that is true but is Kahn still going to be in the new Trek movie then.  Who knows but I guess we will find out sooner rather than later as filming will begin around February.  In other Trek news former Robocop star Peter Weller has been cast in the new movie also. His role hasn't been announced yet.

Space may be the Final Frontier, but the Internet is the Never-Ending Frontier when it comes to movie rumors.

We know "Star Trek 2" will be released in the summer of 2013.

We know it will be in 3-D (groan).

We know Benicio Del Toro will play the villain. Now, thanks to the usually reliable El Mayimbe of Latino Review.com, we know the identity of the villain (spoiler after the jump).

Except, director J.J. Abrams is saying it ain't so.

May 17, 2013 - Star Trek 2

According to Deadline that the next Star Trek film is slated for May 17, 2013.  This puts it 2 weeks after Iron Man 3 is planned for release.

The other recent rumor is that Benicio Del Toro has been cast as the leader of the Gorn.
