Doctor Who:
The Ice Warriors
By Brian Hayles

“Don't you understand? They're ruthless killers and they'll stop at nothing. Now please, listen to me. There's no time to lose.”

The TARDIS lands, more likes crashes, near Brittanicus Base.  Brittanicus Base is on an island near Great Britain and its job is to keep the glacier at bay by using the ioniser.  In the future Earth is facing a second ice age and bases using ionisers are what they have to try and keep the ice away to survive.  The Doctor Jamie and Victoria have stumbled upon the base in time to help them out with a problem with the ionizer.  By doing this The Doctor has gained the trust of Clent who is in charge of the base.

Doctor Who - The Ice Warriors DVD Review

by Ken Parker

This DVD was released in the UK in August and September in the US and includes 4 of the 6 episodes of this 1967 Doctor Who story. The remaining 2 'missing' episodes were restored using the original soundtrack recording and newly commissioned animation. It is the first story to feature the Ice Warriors, who would return to the series 5 more times to date.

Doctor Who The Ice Warriors Missing Episodes 2 and 3 To Be Animated

DoctorWho.TV which is the official Doctor Who website has announced that the missing two episodes of The Ice Warriors will indeed be animated.  It was announced before that it would be like the VHS release with audio and telesnaps.  This is good news and I am happy they will be animating episodes 2 and 3 of The Ice Warriors and look forward to the release of this DVD later this year.  Here is a quote from Dan Hall who is in charge of the making of the DVD and who works for and is the Managing Director of Pup Ltd Media Consultancy.

“We’ve been discussing the various ways Qurios could reconstruct these episodes for over three years.  So it’s really, really satisfying to finally see them animated. Qurios have a great track record in excellent and innovative animations”.

This is good news for all fans of Doctor Who and the classic era and hopefully we get more animated stories to go along with this years releases of The Reign of Terror, The Tenth Planet and The Ice Warriors. Enjoy a video from the upcoming release below.
