The Rumor - Doctor Who Missing Episodes UPDATE

More information concerning the rumor that a lot of missing Doctor Who episodes were found is not what we want to hear.  From our original article yesterday, it was stated that a rumor that potentially 50 or more episodes were located now appears to be a massive hoax.  bleedingcool.com, who broke the news wide open yesterday is now agreeing that signs look bad for this miracle find. Too bad really but it did sound too good to be true.  We will keep an eye on the story still hoping there is something to it.

Even super extreme missing episode expert fan Ian Levine tweeted - 

“There will always be 106 Doctor Who episodes missing”. And yes you can quote me on that.

Technology Update – The Demise of 3-D TV?

Among all the announcements of new gaming and operating systems this past week perhaps the biggest announcement for TV fans is that ESPN is ceasing 3D broadcasts by the end of the year.  This is huge because it basically puts the nail in the coffin for the future of 3D TV.  I would expect 3-D on TV to dwindle and finally become the passing fad it was destined to become.  This does not mean that 3-D TVs are done for.  There could still be a market for 3-D blu ray and TVs.  Of course 3-D movies have not been completely dominating the box office.  Sure, they make a lot of money but so does 2-D.  So it would seem that 3-D movies may be showing signs of mortality.

Having been taken out of time by the Time Lords, the 6^th Doctor’s trial continues as the Valeyard continues to build his case against the Doctor as the court are presented with the next segment of evidence from the Matrix. The trial begins to examine the Doctor’s most recent adventure on the planet Thoros Beta, where the Doctor and Peri discover their old enemy Sil is now trading in weapons. Thoros Beta is the home planet of Sil’s race, but the Mentors’ leader - Lord Kiv - is seriously ill, and the scientist Crozier has been given the task of finding a way to save him.

The Doctor are and Peri are shocked to discover that Crozier has been conducting horrific genetic experiments on King Yrcanos and his best friend, Dorf, who has been transformed into a wolf-like hybrid, however Crozier’s attempt to brainwash Yrcanos has yet to prove successful. When the Doctor is found tampering with the mind-altering machine by Sil and his guards, the Doctor is strapped into Crozier’s transference device which is then activated.

Torchwood's Eve Myles To Be A Guest At Boston Comic Con

Since it was postponed due to the Marathon Terrorist Attack The Boston Comic Con has been assembling quite the guest list for its rescheduled show this August.  Along with all the comic book guest they have added and entertainment guests they have now announced that Torchwood and Doctor Who guest star Eve Myles will now be attending Boston Comic Con.  So Torchwood fans of New England and the Boston area here is your chance to meet Eve Myles and attend one of the best Comic Book Conventions on the East Coast. VALEYARD: By order of the High Council, this is an impartial enquiry into the behaviour of the accused person, known as the Doctor, who is charged that he, on diverse occasions has been guilty of conduct unbecoming a Time Lord.

DOCTOR: Not guilty!

VALEYARD: He is also charged with, on diverse occasions, transgressing the First Law. It is my unpleasant task, Madam Inquisitor, to prove to the enquiry that the Doctor is an incorrigible meddler in the affairs of other peoples and planets.

The Doctor arrives on a Time Lord space station where he is confronted by the Valeyard.  The Valeyard explains to The Doctor that he will be put on trial for endless interfering and meddling while putting his companion in constant danger.  The Doctor refuses a lawyer and will defend himself against the charges brought up by The Valeyard but the kicker is if The Doctor is found guilty he must surrender his remaining regenerations and be sentenced to death.

The first piece of evidence takes place on the planet Ravolox which strikes a resemblance to Earth.  The Doctor even thinks it seems familiar and that he was here before but doesn’t think he has.  They are soon getting weird vibes when they enter a cave and it resembles a subway station.   They are soon in what appears to be a base which is called UK Habitat and is the home of humans who are ruled by the Dratho who the Tribe of the Free calls the Immortal.

The Doctor is also concerned that Glitz and Dibber are on the planet wanting to steal the secrets of the Matrix that the Sleeprs stole from Gallifrey. All this does not make sense as The Doctor tries to get to the bottom of it and find out what is really going on with Ravolox or Earth as it is discovered to be.

The Rumor - Doctor Who Missing Episodes

Apparently there is a growing rumor that the BBC has found a fairly large collection of presumed wiped episodes of Doctor Who.

The reports have leaked on the internet but BleedingCool.com has gone on to claim that it is possible that the entire missing William Hartnell catalog of episodes has been found!!!

.But now a new rumor makes it sound like the BBC has hit the mother lode. Bleeding Cool is reporting that "BBC have secured a large number of presumed-wiped episodes of early Doctor Who."

The report indicates that entire serials that were presumed lost, including some from the elusive William Hartnell era, have been recovered and could debut later this year on television - just in time for the iconic series' 50th-anniversary celebration...

...There's still no confirmation from the BBC, but we have our fingers crossed.

...What I've been hearing, and some of it is attributed to an eccentric engineer who worked for broadcasters across Africa with a taste for science fiction and a habit of taking things for "safe keeping," is that the BBC have secured a large number of presumed-wiped episodes of early Doctor Who.

And there are lots. Lots and lots. Completed serials that we've only had incomplete before, full series that nothing existed of. Not everything. But heaps and heaps. Possibly even The Full Hartnell.

And come November, or before, we'll get to see them...

The Doctor (Colin Baker) and Peri (Nicola Bryant) arrive at Tranquil Repose on the planet Necros, where a facility run by Mr Jobel (Clive Swift) is used by some of the wealthiest people in the galaxy to cryogenically freeze their remains, until a time where the aliments that caused their deaths can be cured. The Doctor wants to pay his last respects to his old friend, Professor Stengos (Hugh Walters). However, when they are attacked by a horrific mutant (Ken Barker), the Doctor’s suspicions about Stengos’ death are confirmed.

When they arrive at Tranquil Repose the Doctor is almost crushed by a huge memorial that has been fashioned in his own likeness. Once inside Tranquil Repose the Doctor is captured by a new breed of white and gold Daleks that have been created by Davros (Terry Molloy). The creator of the Daleks has adopted the identity of the Great Healer so he can use the frozen bodies stored at Tranquil Repose to secretly build a new Dalek army.

'Man of Steel' review (no spoilers, but not much good to say either)

"It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's ... well, not really Superman, is it?"

The name "Superman" is barely mentioned in "Man of Steel." It comes up briefly in a single scene, is uttered three times, and we never hear it again.

That's a sign, no doubt, on several levels that director Zack Snyder wanted to create his own Man of Tomorrow legend. At that, he has succeeded.

Unfortunately, somewhere along the way he forgot to make a good movie about his own version of the most iconic of all superheroes.

The Doctor and Peri are as usual arguing in the TARDIS about where to go when they appear to have been caught in a time corridor.  The Doctor tries to get them out of it when they see Vena float through the TARDIS.  The TARDIS finally arrives on Karfel which happens to be at one end of the tunnel.   

Karfel is ruled by the Borad who happens to be a human that has been infused with the dna of a Morlock.  The people of Karfel do not know this and believe him to be a human in appearance.  Maylin Tekker lulls The Doctor into false sense of welcome when he in actuality wants him to get the amulet back that Vena took with her when she fell into the Timelash.  The Doctor refuses but eventually agrees when Tekker says if he doesn’t he will have Peri killed.  The Doctor calculates that Vena is in 1885 and ends up in Scotland where he finds here in a cabin of a man named Herbert. The Doctorsprings to action after listening to Vena’s story about what is really going on and with Vena and Herbert head back to Karfel to save Peri and to free the planet from the Borad’s reign.

10 - Violence – Was it may imagination or did the show get more violent during this time period.  Not sure if everyone would consider this a good reason to watch but the violence was frequent with the Doctor often making cracks at people’s demise.
