Here is a photo of Matt Smith and actor Alexander Armstrong.  It appears Alexander Armstrong will have some part to play in the Christmas story.  He posted this photo on Twitter.

BBC releases details of Dr. Who Christmas special

Another hat for The Doctor.

Matt Smith will be spending Christmas in familiar territory - World War II England.

The BBC Press Office has released its spoiler-free synopsis of the show:

Production has started on the 2011 Doctor Who Christmas Special in which the Doctor (Matt Smith) finds himself in war-torn England embarking on a magical and mysterious adventure with a young widow and her two children.

A stellar guest cast including Claire Skinner (Outnumbered), Bill Bailey (Black Books), Arabella Weir (The Fast Show) and Alexander Armstrong (Armstrong & Miller), join Matt Smith in the emotional festive special, packed full of Christmas thrills and chills.

Is Filming About to Start on The Christmas Special???

On his Twitter page Steven Moffat tweeted this puzzling quote.

                 "Right! Here we go again! Merry Christmas everyone!"

Hopefully that means that filming will be starting up soon on this years Christmas Special.

Doctor Who Renewed for 2012

Over at the Doctor Who News Page it is being reported that Doctor Who will be returning for 14 episodes.  The first of the 14 will be the 2011 Christmas special while the other 13 will make up Series 7.  No word on how Series 7 will be aired if they continue with the format they are in now or like past series show all 13 in a row.  It has also been confirmed that Matt Smith will be in all 14.  No word on who the companion or companions will be.
