Doctor Who - Arthur Darvill Cast In Flash/Arrow Spinoff

Former Doctor Who star and companion of the 11th Doctor Arthur Darvill has been cast in the new Flash/Arrow spinoff show.  He will be playing time traveler Rip Hunter. Rip Hunter is a roguish time traveler who messes with history and uses a lot of charm and wit to hid his true nature.  The new show will star Brandon Routh as The Atom and will have a mid season debut next year.

Doctor Who's Arthur Darvill To Star In Big Finish's Frankenstein

Big Finish is doing an adapation of the classic Mary Shelly novel Frankenstein.  It stars a bunch of Doctor Who alums like Geoffrey Beavers, Terry Molloy, and Nick Briggs.  It will be out in September.  You can order it from the Big Finish Website.

Doctor Who - Australia's Whoniverse Event Is Cancelled

The Whoniverse convention in Australia has been canceled following the announcement of Matt Smith having to cancel due to a family emergency.  The event was suppose to bring the main 11th Doctor TARDIS crew to the four major Australian cities.  Citing that he is unable to leave the UK Hub Productions (http://www.thehubproductions.com/Events/Whoniverse/ ) have decided to cancel the event and are working on rescheduling the event at a later date.  Ticketek will also be in touch with those fans who have bought tickets to the event about refunds.  Below is the statement that Matt Smith gave the organizers to share with the fans.

"I am deeply saddened to have to advise that I will not be able to come to Australia for the Hub Productions' Whoniverse event. Although I wish it were otherwise, due to a personal family emergency it's not possible for me to leave England at this time. I truly regret the situation, and the disappointment it must be causing, but I'm hoping to be able to reschedule as soon as possible for the future; I look forward to see you all then."

Well here we are.  The big farewell to Rory and Amy Pond and the story filmed in New York City.   In a mini season of five stories with one pretty good, one average and a couple that were less than stellar.  Well I had been looking forward to this story and had some high hopes that Steven Moffat would spin a gem.  So was I disappointed like I have so far this series or did this one save face with me and truly was the gem of the five?

Finally after months of waiting, 8 and some change but who’s counting, Doctor Who is back on our television screens with the opener to series 7 Asylum of the Daleks.  This story was heavily teased and has been heavily promoted for quite some time now.   Asylum of the Daleks was written by Steven Moffat and he has been hyping it up.  So did the series opener deliver?  Did it live up to all the hype or does Asylum of the Daleks deserve to be locked up in an asylum itself.

At the Nerdist panel yesterday it was announced that Team Doctor Who would take on Team Nerdist in bowling.  Chris Hardwick’s All Star Celebrity Bowling was taped in San Diego and will be aired on BBC America on a future date. So keep your eyes out to watch Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvil and Steven Moffat (I wanna see The Moff bowl) take on Chris Hardwick, Will Wheaton and the rest of the Nerdist crew.

Today marks the last day of filming Doctor Who for Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill. Well unless they make an appearance in the 50th anniversary at some point.  But anyway it's an end of an era and soon we will be embarking on the Jenna Louise - Coleman era of Doctor Who.  So goodbye to the Ponds.

Steven Moffatt: End is near for Amy and Rory Pond

Arthur Darvill and Karen Gillan: Happily ever after?

It's official: The days of "Dr. Who" companions Amy and Rory Pond are numbered.

According to the show's Steven Moffatt, the beloved characters, portrayed by Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, will leave the show during the next series. He made the announcement at a screening of the Christmas episode, according to BBC News.

"The final days of the Ponds are coming," Moffat reportedly said."I'm not telling you when or how, but that story is going to come to a heartbreaking end."

He also said the Doctor, played by Matt Smith, will meet "a new friend." Said Smith:

"We had the most incredible journey. We took over the show and we've really had to hold hands and help each other through it."So it's very disappointing, but one has to remember that this show is about change and regeneration, and that's what galvanizes it and pushes it forwards."

Gillan, for one, has been very vocal about how her character should end. On several occasions, she has expressed the opinion that Amy Pond should be killed off and not return for guest appearances. She recently told The Brilliant Book of Doctor Who 2012:

"Death would be an option. I don't want Amy to pop up again every so often, because for me it would take away from the big, emotional goodbye.

"Once she's gone, she's gone. I want people to remember the Amy Pond era as a good one."
