Out today in the UK is issue 498 of Doctor Who Magazine as they take a look at the 10th Doctor and Donna box set from Big Finish.
The Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble are returning for a brand new audio series and David Tennant and Catherine Tate are thrilled to be back in the TARDIS… DWM asks the actors themselves whether the scripts for their new audio series capture the past or reimagine it: “I think they do and they don’t,” David Tennant ponders. “Each episode on TV would go to a slightly different place, and have a slightly different set of criteria, and tell a story in a slightly different way. I think, in that sense, they’re very representative of the shows that we did on TV. Obviously the characters are the same, and they have that relationship that you will, I’m sure, recognise. There will be a new Doctor Who book coming out in the UK on May 12th (December in the US). The plot of the story sees The Doctor facing off against Internet Trolls that are being manipulated by aliens so that they can feed off the hatred generated by the humans. This is an interesting concept for a book as everyone has had encounters with internet trolls in one way or another on Facebook or Twitter. Below is the synopsis for In the Blood.
All over the world, people are 'ghosting' each other on social media. Dropping their friends, giving vent to their hatred, and everywhere behaving with incredible cruelty. Even Donna has found that her friend Hettie, with her seemingly perfect life and fancy house, has unfriended her. And now, all over the world, internet trolls are dying... As more and more people give in to this wave of bitterness and aggression, it's clear this is no simple case of modern living. This is unkindness as a plague. From the streets of London to the web cafes of South Korea and the deepest darkest forests of Rio, can the Doctor and Donna find the cause of this unhappiness before it's too late? Starting in May Big Finish will release audio adventures of the best Doctor and companion pairing of the new series. That's right David Tennant and Catherine Tate will be reprising their roles from Series 4 of Doctor Who. The Doctor and Donna will return in three audio adventures that sees the popular duo taking on evil aliens and once again saving the universe.
This is great news as this was and still is my favorite Doctor and companion pairing of the new show and it will be great to see what the great writers from Big Finish will do with David Tennant's Doctor. If you are a fan of Big Finish and have heard how well they do stories of the Classic Doctor's you should feel excited because these stories might actually be better than the ones on TV. 10 -Romance – Long term Doctor Who fans
never dreamed of a romance between the Doctor and his companion
(well, realistically anyhow) but Rose fell for the Doctor. This was
probably an after thought that grew off of the great chemistry
between Piper and Tennant and also fan feedback reading into the idea
that their relationship was more than just two friends enjoying the
time of their life. This chemistry lead to a very powerful farewell
scene between the Doctor and Rose and if you can forget what would
happen later on, was one of the best moments in the current series.
This is one of those examples of fans thinking there is a
relationship going on when there really isn't but the producers
decide to make it happen.
David Tennant is perhaps
one of the few people who seem to have truly been born to play the role of The
Doctor. The Scot actor and self-confessed Dr Who fan really did get to live the
dream of travelling in time and space, and after studying at the Royal Scottish
Academy of Music and Drama, Tennant’s early television career included roles in
Rab C Nesbit and Taking over the Asylum to name but a few. By the time
Christopher Eccelston had decided he was not returning for a second season,
Russell T Davies had already chosen David Tennant to be his successor. David Tennant was already closely associated
with Big Finish Audio Plays, having appeared in Colditz (2001), Sympathy for
the Devil and Exile (2002), as well as roles in Dalek Empire III and Medicinal
Purposes in 2004 and even the online animated story Scream of the Shalka
(2003). By the time Tennant was offered the role of the Doctor while filming the
BBC’s three part drama about the life of Casanova, you could say that his
appointment with destiny had been sealed, and after only a few days
consideration, David Tennant embraced the roll of our favourite Time Lord and
effectively made it his own.
No longer a companion to Doctor Who, actress Catherine Tate has landed a new gig.
Tate is returning to "The Office" in February, reprising her role of Nellie Bertram, who was introduced as a possible replacement for Michael Scott during last season's finale. Nellie did not get that job, but she will be appearing for a story arc during the February "sweeps" period, according to TVLine.
About the sci fi show's Donna Noble, Paul Liberstein, the show's executive producer and star, said in a statement: "Catherine is hysterical. We introduced her briefly in last season's
finale and knew she had to be a part of the show somehow. We'll meet her
again as corporate's special projects manager, and her relationship
with Robert California (James Spader) will be far from professional.
We're thrilled that she's joining the cast."

When the time comes for "Dr. Who" star Matt Smith to regenerate his career in another direction, filling his shoes (high heels?) on the popular sci fi show could be John Barrowman.
