Big Finish released a trailer for its upcoming box set and single release for their Novel Adaptions series.  The two new adaptions is Gareth Roberts 4th Doctor story The Well - Mannered War and Russell T. Davies 7th Doctor story Damaged Goods.

Doctor Who - Early Release For Big Finish Novel Adaptions

Rose is wandering in the cellar of the shop she works at to give Wilson the lottery money.  She is having a hard time finding him and she seems to be seeing movement in the corner of her eye.   It appears that the shop dummies have come to life and have proceeded to chase her.  Rose thinking it is a college prank yells at them to stop it.  It appears that the shop dummies are Autons and have every intention of killing her. When out of nowhere a stranger grabs her hand and tells her to run.

In comparing the two producers, one element that seems obvious to look at is characters and of course, the Doctor. Russell. T. Davies and Steven Moffat each have had two Doctors (unless you count Moffat's screwing up the regeneration count with the War Doctor.) This is hard to compare the two because people have their own favorite Doctors. Just because I liked one particular Doctor doesn't mean this makes the producer better but it does point to a direction of sorts and I have included some quick examples and opinion.

The moment Russell T. Davies announced he would be stepping down as executive producer for Doctor Who I planned on writing this article. I was ready to happily compare Steven Moffat's take on Doctor Who compared to Russell's view of the TV show. I knew without a doubt that Steven Moffat would run the table and be better at the job than Russell T. Davies.

Having been an American fan of Doctor Who since the late 70's, I was eagerly awaiting the return of the series in 2005 but the show did not meet my expectations. Numerous things, in my mind, made the show inferior to the classic series and I felt that Davies was responsible for much of the problem. I did feel that the show had some good points and it struggled to keep a constant quality product. One of the highlights from the first few years was episodes written by Steven Moffat and so when it was announced that he was taking over from 

Davies, I was ecstatic.

Both have produced around the same number of stories as of right now, 2015 and so comparisons between the two seem fair now. In order to have an actual comparison I will look at several elements of the Doctor Who series and determine who might have done a better job at providing a quality product. Obviously, my stance on Doctor Who is not all positive. This opinion that I express is just that, an opinion but it is based on comparison to the original series and story telling in general as well as my own agendas and experiences with Doctor Who over the years. I am no expert and welcome discussion on this.

10 Reasons to Watch the 10th Doctor

10 -Romance – Long term Doctor Who fans never dreamed of a romance between the Doctor and his companion (well, realistically anyhow) but Rose fell for the Doctor. This was probably an after thought that grew off of the great chemistry between Piper and Tennant and also fan feedback reading into the idea that their relationship was more than just two friends enjoying the time of their life. This chemistry lead to a very powerful farewell scene between the Doctor and Rose and if you can forget what would happen later on, was one of the best moments in the current series. This is one of those examples of fans thinking there is a relationship going on when there really isn't but the producers decide to make it happen.

10 Reasons to Watch the 9th Doctor

10 - The New Start – After years of nothing but audio adventures and books, Doctor Who returns to TV in its new format and style. The show would emphasize characters and appeal to a wider audience than ever before. The series tone matched the present day state of television and would grow from the direction that the 7^th and 8^th Doctor stories had just began years earlier. The show would be fast paced and have half way decent special effects in an attempt to break from the past views that Doctor Who was cheap.

David Tennant is perhaps one of the few people who seem to have truly been born to play the role of The Doctor. The Scot actor and self-confessed Dr Who fan really did get to live the dream of travelling in time and space, and after studying at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Tennant’s early television career included roles in Rab C Nesbit and Taking over the Asylum to name but a few. By the time Christopher Eccelston had decided he was not returning for a second season, Russell T Davies had already chosen David Tennant to be his successor.  David Tennant was already closely associated with Big Finish Audio Plays, having appeared in Colditz (2001), Sympathy for the Devil and Exile (2002), as well as roles in Dalek Empire III and Medicinal Purposes in 2004 and even the online animated story Scream of the Shalka (2003). By the time Tennant was offered the role of the Doctor while filming the BBC’s three part drama about the life of Casanova, you could say that his appointment with destiny had been sealed, and after only a few days consideration, David Tennant embraced the roll of our favourite Time Lord and effectively made it his own.

The BBC has released casting info and a picture from the new show by former Doctor Who show runner Russell T. Davies.  The show which has changed it's name from Aliens VS Wizards will be airing some time in the fall on CBBC. You can read all about it in the press release below.

Filming is now underway on CBBC’s thrilling new action adventure drama, created by Russell T Davies and Phil Ford (The Sarah Jane Adventures, Doctor Who).
Wizards Vs Aliens, produced by BBC Cymru Wales in association with FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME), will air on CBBC this Autumn. Filming has begun at the BBC’s Roath Lock Studios in Cardiff and on location around the area.
Starring newcomers Scott Haran as Tom Clarke and Percelle Ascott as Benny Sherwood, the series also features Annette Badland (Doctor Who, The Sparticles Mystery) Michael Higgs (Eastenders) Jefferson Hall (Doctors, Emma) and Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones). 'Torchwood' to return?

After "Torchwood: Miracle Day" received mixed reviews from both critics and fans, it seemed as if a fifth series starring Capt. Jack Harkness would take, well, a miracle.

Now fans have a glimmer of hope, according to metro.co.uk. Chris Albrecht of Starz, which co-produced the 10-part series with BBC Wales, recently told Multichannel News:

"You know, Russell (T Davies) is so busy. Obviously, we're in touch with the BBC all the time. They are our partners on (new shows) DaVinci's Demons and Harem.

"We told them, we stand by ready for any news, but I think it would be a while before Russell came back to Torchwood.'

Davies put his professional life on hold in December when his partner, Andrew Smith, was diagnosed with brain cancer. Davies recently announced he is returning to work.
 

Russell T. Davis's New Show For CBBC

Doctor Who Show runner and Torchwood creator is returning to CBBC for his second childrens show.  Following the success of The Sarah Jane Adventures Russell has created a new show called Aliens VS Wizards.  The show is created with former The Sarah Jane Adventures writer Phil Ford and it sounds pretty good.   The show is about two 16 year old boys, a wizard, and a friend who is a scientist who ban together to fight off alien invasions.  Here is what Russell T. Davis says about the show:

The Top Ten David Tennant Doctor Who Stories

Now that the 10th Doctors era has been over for two years I thought it would be interesting to compile a list of the ten best stories of his era.  Notice I said stories and not episodes so don’t get your panties in bunch if you see a two parter count as one.  While compiling this list I watched all 47 David Tennant episodes in order and rated each one accordingly.  The first anomaly you will find is that there are actually 11 stories in the top 10 list as the list starts with a tie at number 10.

'Miracle Day' over before it began? Starz raises doubts about another season

The ratings are good

The future? Not looking so good.

"Torchwood: Miracle Day" is performing well with both audiences and critics for Starz. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean the network will order another season of the British sci fi import.
