The X-Files Returning to Fox??

You don't generally see a network wanting a show back after so many years but Fox would love to see a X-Files revival with Chris Carter at the helm and starring Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny .  The show has been off the air for over 12 years and the show's stars are busy on other projects but perhaps something will happen.  The second movie was on 7 years ago but there has been no movement on that end either.

I was a fan of The X-Files for years but in my opinion the show went downhill quickly and not just because the main stars left the show.  The series ran out of ideas and revisited the conspiracy ideal too many times.  I stopped caring about every aspect of the series.  If the show came back I would love to see it return to the case of the week with perhaps different conspiracies rather than the alien abduction, government, black goo, clones, etc story arc.

One would have to wonder in what format the show would come back and a limited episode run would seem most likely rather than a full season.  It is also possible that Duchovny and Anderson would be there to introduce two new leads who would then head up a new series.  That would be great except it sort of had been done before and didn't work that well.

Gotham Soars in the ratings and gets full season

Fox likes what it sees with its Batman series Gotham and green lights a full season going from 16 to 22 episodes.  Not only is Gotham one of Fox's biggest shows, it owns televisions biggest increase in ratings within the past few weeks.

Hieroglyph Series Trailer

Fox has another series for 2015 (shouldn't we be seeing trailer's for 2014 first?) called Hieroglyph which looks like a historical supernatural tale.

Wayward Pines Trailer

M. Night Shymalan is working on a series scheduled for 2015 called Wayward Pines.  First glance it might be his version of Twin Peaks but it looks more like The Prisoner.  I'm in!!

Almost Human is Almost Cancelled. Actually..... it is cancelled.

The Fox show enjoyed a half season in the Monday 'death time slot' but not so good ratings ended that run.  The show has actually done okay in the ratings but a high budget and Fox looking at some promising pilots next season certainly was part of the decision making.  The show was a mix of Blade Runner and Minority Report and had some glimmers of excellent story telling.  I liked the futuristic setting as it was used to create a focus on high tech crimes.

The X-Men vs. The Fantastic Four Movie?

Bleeding Cool reports that Fox is jumping on the superhero overload bandwagon and is planning on bringing two Marvel superhero groups together into one movie franchise.  Currently The Fantastic Four is being developed for a reboot and The X-Men is in the middle of a series of movies including Days of Future Past (May 23, 2014) and Apocalypse (2016).

The report comes from an investors news piece and is not any official announcement so who knows if it is true.

It would seem that superhero movies are starting to become more epic and while DC is looking at combining all their new franchises into a Justice League franchise, Marvel already is sitting pretty with The Avengers and all their upcoming movies.  Fox no doubt wants to capitalize with their products which leaves Sony (The Amazing Spiderman) out in the cold but one cannot rule out a team-up of not only superheroes but of film studios to get their biggest bang for their buck.

Para Time - New Series By Matthew Graham

Life On Mars (The original British one) creator Matthew Graham is working with the Fox Network on a new series idea about a group who polices parallel worlds.  Para Time sounds like a bit of Sliders and Fringe.

This sounds a lot like H.Beam Piper's Paratime series of short stories and novels.

 If this show is half the quality of the Life On Mars then it is going to be fantastic.
