Marvel Vs. DC Movie Update – Spider-Man is in the Neighborhood

I was not going to do an update on Marvel vs. DC movies until later this year. There really wasn't much to say. DC won't be re-kicking off their franchise until next year but Marvel has made some changes to their line-up you might have heard.

Marvel Vs. DC - Does DC have a chance to compete?

This is an updated post from a few weeks ago with some more titles and dates confirmed.  Included are the names of all the Marvel films into 2019.  We have DC, Marvel and the Marvel products released by Fox and Sony.


I always see this as a war between DC and Marvel and some of the release dates will have them battling for the Box Office.  It is interesting to note that these heavy hitters will be competing for biggest box office for the year not only against one another but against Star Wars, Terminator, Jurassic World, Independence Day 2, and a bunch of Avatar films. The superhero film will not be alone at the top of the box office and one will see if that genre can continue to perform strongly over the years.

Here is a schedule and some thoughts after.

Gotham Soars in the ratings and gets full season

Fox likes what it sees with its Batman series Gotham and green lights a full season going from 16 to 22 episodes.  Not only is Gotham one of Fox's biggest shows, it owns televisions biggest increase in ratings within the past few weeks.

Batman - The Complete Series Details Reveled at SDCC

The Batman Complete TV Series details have been announced at SDCC and well the gift set will be expensive and packed with lots of goodies.  The DVD and Blu Ray will be out November 11th and the price will be $200 for the DVD and $270 for the Blu Ray.

Both sets will have all 120 episodes completely remastered and interviews with Adam West and Burt Ward.  The Blu Ray will come with an exclusive Hot Wheels replica Batmobile, Adam West Scrapbook, 44 vintage trade cards, an Ultraviolet digital copy of all 120 episodes and an episode guide and will be a limited edition set that is numbered. 

For those of you that do not have the money for that set a DVD set of season one will cost you $40 and will be obviously followed by season two and three at a later date.

Batman V Superman Full Title Revealed

Last week we had the reveal of the batmobile and Ben Affleck in the Batsuit.  Now we have the full title of the movie. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is the full title and well it sure sounds like the beginning of a Justice League lead in movie.  My only concern is that this movie will not focus much on the fight between the two main characters but will end up being a lets get the band together for a big Justice League Movie later on.

Zack Synder has released the first pic of Ben Affleck as Batman.  The highly anticipated movie and the star that people are worried about will be filming soon and I have to say that Ben Affleck looks like Batman but we shall see when the movie is released. The batsuit looks similar to the one from Frank Millers The Dark Knight Returns. Judge for yourself.

Official Extended Trailer For Gotham

Fox debuted the official trailer for Gotham the Batman centric series that takes place during the year of Bruce Wayne's parents getting murdered.  It focuses on Jim Gordon and I am interested to see how they concentrate on the stories leading up to the Gotham City we know now in the comic books.  The first trailer looks really good and I am glad they are going for a dark and gritty show.  Can't wait for the fall to watch this show.

Holy DVD Set Batman!! Batman '66 To Be Released On DVD Finally!!!

In what has been a long time coming for fans of the Adam West Batman series that ran from 1966 to 1968 a DVD box set is finally on the way.   For some reason Conan O'Brien found this out and tweeted about it and it was indeed confirmed that in 2014 a DVD box set will be released with the entire series on it.  So fans of the the campy Batman series get ready 2014 will be your year.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will distribute the long-awaited BATMAN live-action television series (1966-68) as a complete box set later in 2014.

"Gotham" A New Series Focusing On Gordon Headed To Fox

Gotham a series focusing on the early years of Commissioner Gordon before the arrival of Batman has been given a series commitment from Fox.  Bruno Heller who is the creator of the Mentalist will write and executive produce the series.  The series is set to focus on the early days of Gordon as a detective and the villains that would later plague Batman.  This is pretty good news considering that we might be getting a Flash series and with Arrow and Shield around it is looking good for super heroes to be having a major presence on TV.

Ben Affleck is the new Batman

"Pssst, Ben! That's the wrong costume." Ben Affleck will don the cowl again. Instead of suiting up for a "Daredevil" sequel, though, he'll be Batman. Affleck has been cast as The Dark Knight/Bruce Wayne for Zack Snyder's unnamed sequel to "Man of Steel," which will finally pair DC's two most iconic heroes on the big screen. The announcement came Thursday from Greg Silverman, prresident of Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, president of Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, for Warner Bros. Pictures. Henry Cavill will return with the Big S on his chest for the film. "Man of Steel" so far has brought in more than $650 million worldwide. Also returning for the Bats/Supes team-up are Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. "We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics' most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some," Silverman said in a statement. "His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character." "Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry's Superman," Snyder added. "He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. Damian Wayne Returns In Damian Son Of Batman

Don't get your hopes up Damian Wayne Robin fans it isn't a resurrection in a regular continuity book it is an alternate reality mini series by Andy Kubert.  The basis of this 4 issue mini series is Batman 666 which takes place 15 years from now with Damian as Batman.  Should be an interesting series as Batman 666 was a pretty good alternate reality story.  You can read the full story and interview at the link below.

Its Official!! Superman/Batman Movie Is Happening #SDCC 2013

Today's big rumor has been confirmed as we will have a Superman/Batman movie in 2015. At the end of the Warner Bros/Legendary panel Man of Steel director Zack Snyder and Superman himself Henry Cavill came on stage and made the announcement as the above image was presented on screen.

The current hit, “Man of Steel,” has taken in more than $630 million at the worldwide box office to date, and climbing. Along with its star, Henry Cavill, the upcoming film brings back Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. The new Batman has yet to be cast.

Snyder is co-writing the story with David S. Goyer, who will then pen the screenplay. Production is expected to begin in 2014, with an anticipated release date in Summer 2015.

Let’s face it, it’s beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest Super Heroes in the world.”

The new film brings back Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder as producers. This time, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are serving as executive producers, along with Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan.

Thomas offered, “Whilst our ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy is complete, we have every confidence that Zack’s fresh interpretation will take the character in a new and exciting direction. His vision for Superman opened the door to a whole new universe and we can’t wait to see what Zack does with these characters.”

The film is based on Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster, and Batman characters created by Bob Kane, published by DC Entertainment.

Christian Bale: The next Batman (huh?)

You look familiar. Have we met before?

Now that Christian Bale has hung up his cape and cowl, let's address rumors about who will next play Batman on the big screen.

The latest actor attached to the role? Christian Bale.

Confused?

According to a report from Latino Review, Bale is in discussions to don the Bat-tights for a Justice League movie in 2015. That makes sense when you consider that the site also is reporting that Bat-director Christopher Nolan will oversee the project.

Oh, and prepare for a geek overload.

"Man of Steel" director Zack Snyder is mentioned as a Justice League producer and potential director. That raises the possibility of Henry Cavill wearing the Super-cape in the same movie.

Top that, Marvel.
