Eye of Sci-Fi - Person of Interest, The X-Files and when shows end

Mid May 2015
By Ken Parker

This session I spend a fair amount of time looking at some TV shows which ended in seasons past following the news that Person of Interest has been renewed for only 13 episodes.  We also hear more X-Files information and look back in time at a previously lost fantasy film and ahead in time to a new Luc Besson film.

Person of Interest Season 3 TV Report - Spoilers

by Ken Parker

Thoughts - I have always enjoyed Person of Interest and thought of it as a very good show.  For the past 2 seasons this show has upped it's game so much and for a show to do this on a regular basis is such a refreshing thing.  This season saw the death of one main character and the ending of one plot line but out of those two things the show has evolved so much.  Anyone who has just seen a few episodes from season 1 would probably not recognize it today.  The science fiction elements from this show have become more relevant but the characters and storylines have remained rooted in reality and this helps make this one of my favorite shows on TV now.

TV Show Updates - Cancellations, Renewals and New Series

With the fate of a few more shows announced today I thought I would review the status of sci-fi and fantasy shows set for the fall of 2014 and list the shows that did not make it.  Expect the fate of all shows to be determined in the next week or so.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD Guest Star - Amy Acker

Amy Acker (Angel, Dollhouse) is appearing in an upcoming episode of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD as Agent Coulson's former girlfriend mentioned in The Avengers as the cellist.  Acker takes time out from playing Root in TV's best series, Person of Interest, to guest star in at least one episode this April, re-teaming up with Joss Whedon who Acker has worked with on numerous projects such as Much Ado About Nothing, Cabin in the Woods and Angel.

CBS Renews Shows for 2014-2015 Season

The Big Bang Theory is safe for 3 more years.  It is no surprise that one of CBS's most popular shows keeps getting renewed for multiple seasons at a time and The Big Bang Theory is good at least until 2017.

Also renewed is probably the best written show on TV right now, Person of Interest, which will enter its 4th season.

Elementary is good for at least one more season as it enters its 3rd season.

Person of Interest - Mid Season TV Report

By Ken Parker

CBS - Tuesdays

Initial Thoughts – My initial thoughts on Person of Interest back before season 1 aired was that this was basically an Equalizer clone. This is not a bad thing but depending on how it went, would depend on if I would continue to watch it. Very soon it was obvious that the series is more sci-fi than I thought and was so important as it is all about privacy, identities and personal freedoms. A machine that can scan and predict future actions is not that sci-fi for our today's society. This show soon became one of my favorites and this season has promoted it to my favorite.
