CBS Renews Shows for 2014-2015 Season

The Big Bang Theory is safe for 3 more years.  It is no surprise that one of CBS's most popular shows keeps getting renewed for multiple seasons at a time and The Big Bang Theory is good at least until 2017.

Also renewed is probably the best written show on TV right now, Person of Interest, which will enter its 4th season.

Elementary is good for at least one more season as it enters its 3rd season.

Elementary Casts It's Mycroft Holmes

 

Rhys Ifans who played the Lizard in last years The Amazing Spider - Man will be playing Sherlock Holmes brother Mycroft in the second season of Elementary.  He will make his debut in the season opener when Sherlock and Joan take a trip to London where Mycroft will allow them to stay at his new home at 221B Baker Street.

Elementary – One Perspective

Now that the first season of Elementary has ended-and viewers can excitedly anticipate a second season-it is time to reflect and take stock.

Elementary includes the familiar character of Sherlock Holmes.  While Holmes is properly British, the series is set in the familiar streets of current-day New York City. Holmes works as a consulting detective, often helping his long-time friend, NYPD Captain Gregson, whom he met in London while Gregson was helping at Scotland Yard. 

Holmes is a recovering drug user. He meets Joan Watson, a former surgeon, who has been hired by Holmes unseen father, to serve as Holmes’ “sober companion.” As time goes by, Watson finds herself intrigued by the art of detection-she even exhibits her own spark of deductive talent, and so Holmes begins to treat her as an apprentice detective. Eventually he bestows on her a heartfelt compliment, when explaining to Moriarty that now there are two people, himself and Watson, who are as clever, if not more so, than his long time archenemy.

Elementary Casts It's Irene Adler

 

Elementary has cast its Irene Adler and she is Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer. She will make her debut on the May 9th show and will return for the two hour season finale on May 16th.  Elementary airs Thursday's on CBS.

CBS Renews Sherlock Holmes Show "Elementary"

 

CBS has renewed the modern day adventure Sherlock Holmes Elementary for a 2nd season.  The show has had strong ratings and quite the following so it was a no brainer that Elementary would be back this Fall.   Elementary stars Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Joan Watson and airs on Thursdays at 10PM EDT on CBS.

What I'm Looking Forward To In 2013

2012 was an amazing year for movies and TV that there was so much to see and experience for all the geeks out there. Not to mention in the world of comic books also as Spider – Man celebrate his 50th anniversary and boy was it a shocking celebration.   So now we Bid Adieu to 2012 and hello to 2013 and to all the cool things that geeks cannot wait to see.  So here is what I am anxiously looking forward to seeing.

“Elementary, my dear Watson!” are words Conan Doyle never wrote, and his character, Sherlock Holmes, never uttered. This makes it ideally appropriate for them to be associated with the title of the latest Sherlock Holmes adaptation from US television network CBS. The words were actually spoken by the movie version of Sherlock popularized by Basil Rathbone in the 1940s whose screen adventures were also, only tenuously connected to the Conan Doyle stories. These movies are in fact, more obviously the forerunner to this TV Show. It may have been imagined that these movies would be more familiar to an American audience and that they would find less pleasure in the sport of spotting references to the original stories.

Elementary Picked Up For Full Season

CBS has picked up Elementary for a full 22 episode season.  The show has been doing extremely well (I've been enjoying it) in the ratings which prompted the pick up.  This is great news for Sherlock Holmes fans as we now have to completely different takes on the classic character.

Press Release For "Elementary"

CBS has released a press release that gives a synopsis for what Elementary is all about.  While it looks promising with what I've seen with the trailer I do have some reservations about the what they might be attempting with the character.  But like I said before I will keep an open mind.

ELEMENTARY stars Jonny Lee Miller as detective Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson in a modern-day drama about a crime-solving duo that cracks the NYPD’s most impossible cases.
Following his fall from grace in London and a stint in rehab, eccentric Sherlock escapes to Manhattan where his wealthy father forces him to live with his worst nightmare – a sober companion, Dr. Watson.
A successful surgeon until she lost a patient and her license three years ago, Watson views her current job as another opportunity to help people, as well as paying a penance. However, the restless Sherlock is nothing like her previous clients.
He informs her that none of her expertise as an addiction specialist applies to him and he’s devised his own post-rehab regimen – resuming his work as a police consultant in New York City. Watson has no choice but to accompany her irascible new charge on his jobs. But Sherlock finds her medical background helpful, and Watson realizes she has a knack for playing investigator.
Sherlock’s police contact, Capt. Tobias “Toby” Gregson (Aidan Quinn), knows from previous experience working with Scotland Yard that Sherlock is brilliant at closing cases, and welcomes him as part of the team.
With the mischievous Sherlock Holmes now running free in New York solving crimes, it’s simple deduction that he’s going to need someone to keep him grounded, and it’s elementary that it’s a job for Watson.
Rob Doherty, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Michael Cuesta, who directed the pilot, are executive producers for CBS Television Studios.

Here is a preview for CBS 's new take on Sherlock Holmes "Elementary".  It doesn't look all that bad from the preview so I may be giving this show a chance and will keep an open mind about it when I watch it this fall when the new TV season starts.

Elementary Casts It's Lestrade Type Character

Adian Quinn has been casted as NYPD Captain Gregson.  Apparently it is this character that invites Sherlock to NYC after working with him at Scotland Yard.  So I guess Captain Gregson will be the Inspector Lestrade of Elementary.
