Sherlock: Lars Mikkelson On Being Sherlock's Adversary Charles Augustus Magnussen

The BBC Media Centre has posted a new interview with Lars Mikkelson to get you ready for the the Sherlock Series Three Finale "His Last Vow".

How did you come to join the show? How did that process start?

They contacted me, and I was here doing a small film in East London at The Beaumont. Then I read the script, and did a casting, and then the role was mine!

And what was your first impression of the scripts when you read them?

I was just amazed. I’d just read that one script actually, the last one. It’s the best script I’ve ever read really.

Tell us a little bit about your character.

Sherlock: The Sign of Three Review (Spoilers)

Sherlock:
The Sign of Three
By Stephen Thompson

It’s John and Mary’s wedding day and Sherlock is prepping for his speech as the best man.  Not an easy thing to do the best man speech especially for a high functioning sociopath like Sherlock Holmes.  What Sherlock does is actually tell a tale about one of the cases they were on and unfortunately did not solve as a point in how good of a person Watson is as he was able to save the murder victim.  All during the speech he goes over another case which has been occupying his mind as it ties in with a funny story on how Sherlock and Watson got drunk during the stag night and then proceeded to take on the case in their inebriated state.  As Holmes recalls the case he has an epiphany and realizes that The Mayfly Man is actually targeting someone at John and Mary’s wedding and that the first case he talked about and the Mayfly man case are actually connected.  So the game is afoot at the wedding of John Watson and who thought this cherished occasion would be a normal one.

Sherlock - Benedict Cumberbatch Talks About Sherlock Series Three

Today it is Benedict Cumberbatch's turn to talk about Sherlock Series Three. Sherlocks return will soon be here and don't forget the special mini episode on Christmas Day.

How did it feel reading the first script of the new series?

It’s always a kind of cold-faced thrill because you get the first enjoyment of it. It’s like being the first audience of the finished product, so it was a real treat. We knew what the rough trajectory was over the three films, but when you get the full script it’s just a delight. The first thing I go to is the big scenes, and every one of those scripts is a terrific read. It’s such a joy to read them for the first time – you get that thrill that hopefully the audience will get when they sit down and watch it.

What was it like getting back into character after a two-year break?

Sherlock - Martin Freeman On Sherlock Series Three

It's Martin Freemans turn to spill the beans on the upcoming three epsidode series three of Sherlock.  But don't expect him to reveal all.

Source: BBC Media Centre

An interview with Martin Freeman, who plays John Watson in BBC One's Sherlock.

What was it like being back together for the first read-through?

It was good – it had a kind of familiarity about it, we had new people joining which was lovely. Given that it was our third time, or fourth including the pilot, it just feels nice and familiar. It’s always exciting because the scripts are so good.

Two years have passed since Sherlock faked his death. How do you think this has affected John and how has be moved on?

#SherlockLives - Sherlock Series New Trailer

Here is the new trailer for Sherlock Series 3 which I missed because the released it during all the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary stuff.  Why they did that and allow it to get buried by the Doctor Who tsunami I don't know but here it is.  Still no UK airdate has been announced.

BBC Releases First Offical Sherlock Series 3 Promo Pic

Here is the first of many promo pictures for Sherlock Series 3. This one is a bit odd looking as they look like shop mannequins.  Can they be more emotionless it looks like a clothing ad for a really pricy store.

Sherlock Series 3 US Air Date Revealed

What is probably a surprise and quite funny is that the  BBC have announced that Sherlock Series 3 will make its return to US airwaves on Sunday January 19th at 10PM as part of PBS's Masterpiece.  It will be a twin bill with Downtown Abby airing before it.  The BBC did say that Sherlock would air in the UK first on BBC1 but as normal there is no air date yet.  That's the funny part in all this is the UK air date is not determined yet but a US one has been.  Still I'm sure the UK air date will surface soon enough my guess is that it will be December 29th or January 5th.
