Goodbye to 12 - Doctor Who - The Girl Who Died Review
We celebrate the Peter Capaldi era by revisiting the 12th Doctor's adventures as we count down the days to his last adventure.
Doctor Who:
The Girl Who Died
By Steve Mathieson
And Steven Moffat
“I am The Doctor and I save people. And if anyone happens to be listening and you’ve got any kind of problem with that. To hell with you!”
The Girl Who Died had a lot of buzz going in mainly to see who Maisie Williams would be playing. Back in the summer was the Doctor Who Series 9 trailer and at the end Maisie Williams said this to Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor, ‘What took you so long old man?” Now that made the interwebs abuzz with speculation that she was playing Romana, The Rani, Susan and Jenny. I myself was hoping for the Terrible Zodin as some thought it was a younger Missy. Guess what? You’re all wrong as she is playing an original character. Leave it to Steven Moffat to prop up an episode that in all fairness is not that good.

Doctor Who - The Girl Who Died - Review - Spoilers
By Ken Parker
You may not realize this, but this
episode, “The Girl Who Died” is the definitive blueprint of a
standard Doctor Who episode. It has the Doctor and Clara entering a
Viking era village and in a bit of trouble. The Doctor finds a way
out by pretending to be something he is not but this backfires.
Suddenly an alien race raids the village and kidnaps all the
warriors. The Doctor must now work with the village and get them
prepared for the battle set for the next day. Clara is relying on
the Doctor's usual last minute save the day plan but alas, the Doctor
doesn't have one ...yet. Clara attempts to inspire the Doctor to be
who he is and with the help Ashildr (Maisie Williams) and a crying
baby the Doctor comes up with a plan utilizing his surroundings (no
TARDIS and no Sonics). The plan works well but with a catch.Doctor Who - The Girl Who Died Review (Spoilers)

Doctor Who - The Girl Who Died Maisie Williams Interview
The BBC Media Centre has released an interview with The Girl Who Died guest star Maisie Williams.
Are you a fan of Doctor Who?
When Doctor Who came back on television a lot of my male friends were really excited. I didn’t know much about it but I watched a couple of seasons with David Tennant as the Doctor. And since I’ve been here, I’ve been questioning Jenna: why are you in a space suit? What’s going on here? Have we met this person before? Does this link back to a previous episode? - anything I can find out. It has been really exciting working on it and I’m so glad to be a part of it now.
Doctor Who - Jamie Mathieson on The Girl Who Died
The BBC Media Centre has released an interview with Jamie Mathieson talking about The Girl Who Died.
"The Doctor meets The Vikings! Of course he does. The only question is, why did it take so long?
Odin has come to visit his loyal followers, the Vikings, and reward their bravest warriors with a place in Valhalla. There’s only one problem - The Doctor and Clara, who are having none of this and smell a rat. They are soon caught up in the middle of a war between an advanced race of mercenary aliens and a village full of angry Vikings, who don’t take kindly to having their Gods insulted.
