Lots of series canceled, lots of stuff coming up and a look at The Martian movie.

Continuum Series - So after 4 seasons, Continuum is done.  I followed the show since day one and for the most part I found the entire thing enjoyable.  I felt the show never ever was on track with a true direction and that might be representative of the time travel nature of the story.  The show was constantly trying to find an identity and often changed direction.  I don't think it ever figured itself out and even in the final mini season, it just barely managed to put all the pieces together.  It was not a bad show and the ending approached a satisfying conclusion but not sure it was worth the 4 years to get there.  If you are looking for a time travel, conundrum and paradox show that looks at how and why one might want to change history, this series has some great concepts and excellent characters.

Eye on Sci-Fi - Star Wars, Orphan Black, Mad Max

With a slew of high profile sci-fi movies coming out this year like The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Mad Max: Fury Road, Terminator: Genisys and Jurassic World, one can be excused to forget about the biggest release of the year, mostly because it is still many months away from coming out. But we won't be forgetting about Star Wars from now on. Expect an ever increasing level of promotion and coverage about Star Wars from now on.

SyFy's Being Human Canceled

SyFy has canceled its version of Being Human.  The series finale will be on April 7.  The series lasted 4 seasons, one season less than the original UK Being Human, which ended its run last March.

SyFy has an official statement -

With the second half of "Being Human's" 4th season set to kick off, our human-at-heart characters are about to embark on a journey full of twists, turns and surprises that will culminate in a spectacular series finale on Syfy, Monday, April 7th.

Showrunner Anna Fricke and the talented producers, writers, cast and crew have done an amazing job bringing this show to life over the past four seasons and we sincerely thank them and the series' production company Muse Entertainment for their hard work. They've saved the best for last with the final six episodes that revisit the story's beginning, leading to a not-to-be-missed send-off for Aidan, Sally, Josh and Nora.

Sharknado Hits Tonight!!!

If you were a shark and you found yourself flying through the air, wouldn’t you keep biting? I think you’d be pretty pissed about being plucked out of your nice familiar ocean where you’re king of the predators, and you’d probably take it out on whoever got in your way. Honestly, I don’t understand why people are so perplexed by this concept. The logic is undeniable.

SyFy has canceled Warehouse 13. It will finish it's current season and will return in 2014 for a 6 episode 5th and final season to wrap things up.

Synopsis For SyFy's New Blake's 7 Reboot

Here is something I had forgotten and I am a little excited to see happen.  SyFy released a synopsis for their Blake's 7 reboot and the good news is that director Martin Cambell is still attached to it.  Here is the synopsis.

The year is 2136, Blake wakes up on one side of the bed. He reaches for the other side. There’s nobody there. As reality sets in, this handsome ex-soldier sits up, and looks at a photo of his wife Rachel. Beautiful. Deceased.

A revolutionary reinvention of the long-running BBC series made in the late 1970s, Blake’s 7 tells the story of seven criminals - 6 guilty and 1 innocent - on their way to life on a prison colony in space, who together wrestle freedom from imprisonment. They acquire an alien ship which gives them a second chance at life and become the most unlikely heroes of their time.

Ridley Scott Adapts Philip K. Dick Novel

The Man in the High Castle is a 1962 novel written by Philip K. Dick and is about an alternate reality where the Axis Powers won World War II.  The story follows several characters and their interaction with this different world.  Ridley Scott will be executive producing a 4 part mini series based on this novel. Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files) will write the first two parts and supervise the others.  The mini series will air on Sy Fy.

Ridley Scott, as you might know, adapted another Philip K. Dick story, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep which became Blade Runner.

Season 1 Review

I recently caught up with this Canadian series and I have to tell you that I was unimpressed to start with. Right away I felt this was too similar to the boring Alcatraz series that was canceled last year. We have convicts of the terrorist group Liber8 from the future traveling back in time to 2012. Followed by a police officer from the future, the convicts are attempting to stop the development of a government run by big businesses. Meanwhile the cop, Kiera Cameron (Rachel Nichols) must attempt to stop the dangerous criminals and their plans to manipulate time as well as keep her presence a secret from the 2012 police force she has teamed up with. She is helped by young hacker Alec Sadler who will end up inventing much of the technology Kiera uses in the future. She has with her a suit that can do all kinds of things like stop bullets and cloak.

Syfy To Develop Waterworld Series???

Why would Syfy and NBC do a Water World movie game and a  TV series?  The reason why is when Syfy showed Waterworld on thier channel it got a 400,000 viewership. I thought it was a horrible film. It was a Mad Max rip off but on the water. Go to screenrant.com to read the full article.

Syfy Delivers Sci-Fi!!

The Syfy Channel has announced quite a few new projects for near future.  Among the 28 projects there is a new show called Defiance which is a post apocalyptic setting starring Julie Benz (No Ordinary Family) and Grant Bowler (True Blood).  The series will be heavily connected to a video game being released at the same time.  Produced by Rockne O'Bannon (Farscape) and directed by Scott Stewart (Preist), the series should be out in 2013.

Grimm - Marathon on SyFy

In case you have missed this new series, the SyFy Channel will be airing a mini marathon of the 4 episodes that have already aired on NBC Friday nights.  This series shows promise and is interesting but perhaps not very original.  For me I am still watching but have not been blown away by anything just yet.  The marathon is on Tuesday starting at 7pm on the SyFy Channel.
