Doctor Who 50th Anniversary 1st Doctor eShort Announced
The first children's author has been named and it's Artemis Fowl scribe Eoin Colfer. he will be writing a story for the 1st Doctor called "A Big Hand For The Doctor" and will be released on January 23rd. Eoin Colfer has also written a book in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe series with the Douglas Adams estates approval. The press release is below with all the details.

Shoreditch, London, 1963. The Beatles have beaten John Smith and the Common Men to No. 1 and satellites are being launched in outer space. Series of Short Stories Announced to Celebrate Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary
For the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who there will be a series of short stories one for each of the 11 Doctors released once a month to help celebrate the anniversary. The 11 eshorts will be written by some of the acclaimed writers in children's literature. The first author will be announced on the Doctor Who Facebook page on Monday January 7th and the first story featuring the First Doctor will be released on January 23rd. Coincidentally there will also be a video released about the stories author released on BBC Worldwides Youtube channel on January 11th.
In November there will be a paperback collection of all 11 stories and will be released by Puffin Books. The eshorts will be priced at 1.99 pounds and the collection will be priced at 7.99 pounds. So far the 50th Anniversary is starting off pretty good.

50 years ago on November 23 a great television phenomenon was born and when two school teachers entered a junkyard and confronted an old man about to enter an out of place Police Box. What Ian and Barbara, and the people watching on TV, did not know what was in store for them. An Unearthly Child was the beginning of the ride of a lifetime and it all started with a mysterious girl who was, well, a bit alien.
