Every once in a while when driving down the road you may occasionally hit a pot hole.  You worry cause the road your on was nice and smooth and there shouldn’t be any pot holes on the road.  You then start to worry if there will be any damage to your vehicle.  Then you vehicle starts to make a funny noise and you really worry that something seriously is wrong with your vehicle.  Well the pot hole in question is “Dinosaurs on a Spaceship” and the vehicle damaged was my brain. 

I have watched Doctor Who for a very long time.  I have watched some stories that have been less than stellar and walked away with some parts that are memorable whether good or bad.  Well Dinosaurs on a Spaceship has me scratching my head as to what I just saw.  Now for those you have read my reviews know that I generally like everything and don’t usually write that an episode was bad or piss poor especially when it comes to Doctor Who.  Yes I’ve been critical of the show but rarely do I hate an episode.  Well I hate Dinosaurs on a Spaceship.

The Best and Worst of Geekdom 2012

2012 was a treasure trove for geeks as there was lots of stuff that came out this year to make all of us happy.  There was something for everyone and that was definitely true with the movies that came out.  2012 was definitely the year of the movies for us geeks.  It rivaled 1982 as one of the best all time for movies which was fitting since it was the 30th anniversary of the movies of 1982.  2012 had a lot of cool stuff happening during it and well it also had some pretty lousy stuff also.  So I have compiled my list of what I thought was the best and worst of 2012 and I’m sure a lot of these selections are on your lists.

I confess, I am a sucker most of the time for a Doctor Who episode. Having just watched a bunch of classic episodes with Tom, Peter and Colin, Doctors 4, 5 and 6, I felt very prepared to proceed into another journey with Doctor Eleven. This time he is joined by the Ponds, Egyptian queen Nefertiti (of the famous blue-Crowned bust) and a less familiar big-game hunter named Riddell.  Their task, it seems, is to board a strange spaceship heading for a collision course with Earth. The Indian Space Agency is preparing to fire missiles at the ship before it crashes.

For me to say that Asylum of the Daleks is everything that I like in Doctor Who may not be 100% accurate but it certainly had much that I liked and don't mind experiencing with the show. To say that Dinosaurs On A Spaceship is everything I DON'T hate in Doctor Who is probably a more accurate statement. WOW – It has been a while since I truly and fully hated an episode like this. I certainly had major problems with the last two seasons with many episodes being very much subpar or bad. Dinosaurs On A Spaceship made me angry, it made me shake my head and made me ill on every level.

“Dinosaurs…..ON A SPACESHIP!” Review by @cheezypeas

Well, after the fanfare and ticker tape from the series opener last week, the second episode had a lot to live up to. Especially with the promise of an intergalactic Jurassic Park!

It doesn’t matter if you’re young or old; Doctor Who is a family show. The writers need to balance this quite carefully as the target audience is basically everyone!

The title of this episode says it all. Immediately you think this will be focusing potentially on the little people in the audience and perhaps a little lighter hearted than last week.

But don’t let that assumption cloud your judgment…
