New Trailer for The Last Merlin "Diamond of the Day"
Here is another trailer for the two part Merlin finale "The Diamond of the Day". The Last Merlin will air part one on Saturday December 22nd and the last Merlin ever will air on Tuesday December 24th Christmas Eve.

Synopsis For The Last Two Merlin Episodes
The BBC has released the synopsis, but not the titles, for the last two Merlin episodes that will be aired during the Christmas season. These two stories will air on Saturday December 22nd and 29th and will mark the end of Merlin's 5 year story.
Episode 5.12 High in the mountains, a great horde gathers; Morgana prepares for war with a vengeful Mordred at her side. Merlin feels the weight of his destiny like never before as the ancient prophecies play out with terrifying accuracy. But before he can save his beloved Camelot, he must save himself. For it is not just the kingdom Morgana wishes to destroy – it is also Emrys.
Episode 5.13 And so it seems the Prophets did not lie. As the great battle rages on Camlann's mighty plain, Merlin faces his moment of destiny. Can he find the strength to save the man he made a King; the Camelot they fought to build; and the brotherhood they shared?

Merlin Series 5 To Be The Last BBC Announces
In a press release the BBC have announced that the highly popular and ratings success will wrap up its 5 year story with episode 13 of series 5. Merlin will wrap up its 5 year retelling of the King Arthur legend with a special two part series finale this Christmas. There is the chance that there will be a trilogy of Merlin movies that the creators were talking on doing which was announced at San Diego Comic Con. With Merlin ending this leaves a gap in the fall with Merlin's timeslot. Could Doctor Who be moving in there for the 50th? Time will tell. Q: Why has Merlin been such a success right around the globe?
A: The Arthurian legends themselves have endured for hundreds of years already, and we're taking them to the next level. Also from series one, the characters just clicked in people's minds. The writers are so smart about that and are constantly developing the characters in a fascinating way. This fifth series is the most sophisticated in terms of storylines.
Q: Has the series also benefited from the huge current popularity of the fantasy genre?

Q: Why has Merlin struck a chord with audiences all over the world?
A: The Arthurian legend relates to all nations, not just our own. This version of Merlin also connects with viewers everywhere because of the gripping way in which the creators have told the story. That's been really refreshing and has offered viewers tremendous escapism. The stories translate wherever you are in the world – as long as the dubbing is good! I've seen a few versions in different languages, and some of them are quite funny. In Italian, we all sound like characters from The Godfather, while in the French version we all sound rather effeminate. And I sound really quite angry in Japanese!
Q: What is going on at the beginning of series five?

A: In series 4, you still had vestiges of an uncertain, unconfident Morgana. She still had Agravaine there for support. Now in series 5 she is on her own, and entirely in control. She's the boss. She's become extremely powerful, a force to be reckoned with.
Q: How would you characterize Morgana's campaign against Arthur?

Q: Where do we find Mordred at the beginning of the fifth series?
A: We pick up with him at the beginning of the series, and see that he's older than that when we last met him – I've taken over the role from that excellent young actor Asa Butterfield. Mordred is still a druid, but now he is very ambiguous. You never quite know where his allegiances lie…
Q: Can you please expand on his ambiguity?

Q: Please describe where Guinevere is at the start of the fifth series
A: Having married Arthur, she's now Queen and is taking the role very, very seriously. She's become the Queen I always thought she would be. She has all the characteristics for the role. She is innocent, strong, humble but noble. She possesses that a great humanity, kindness and love, but at the same time she's not afraid to stand up and say what she thinks. She's very honest because she has realised that quality is very important in her new role. However, she can also be quite ruthless as she is fiercely protective of Arthur and the kingdom. She has to make decisions which are quite harsh, but they are all done in the name of defending the ones she loves.
Q: How would you characterize her relationship with Arthur now?
