10 Reasons to Watch the 9th Doctor

By Ken Parker

10 - The New Start – After years of nothing but audio adventures and books, Doctor Who returns to TV in its new format and style. The show would emphasize characters and appeal to a wider audience than ever before. The series tone matched the present day state of television and would grow from the direction that the 7th and 8th Doctor stories had just began years earlier. The show would be fast paced and have half way decent special effects in an attempt to break from the past views that Doctor Who was cheap.

Best scene in the entire season!!

Uncanny X - Men: Days Of Future Past Trade Paperback Review (Mild Spoilers)

X – Men: Days of Future Past
Trade Paperback Review

With the prospect of the next X-men movie being the classic story (that’s what I’ve been told by those X – Men experts) so I went out and bought the trade paperback in which this story is collected and thought I would give it a read to get a hint of what the movie would be about.    The trade collects Uncanny X-Men 138 – 143 and Annual 4 of the original run of the book that was published in 1980 and 1981.  I really enjoy 80’s comics as that era is a favorite of mine and there are a lot of good stories and well it was a time where the big two did not reboot series and start everything over every so many years.

This collection is written by long time X-Men scribe Chris Claremont and is responsible for many stories that have lasted the test of time like the Dark Phoenix storyline and of course Days of Future Past.  On art duties is one of my favorite artists John Byrne who I became a fan of during his run on Fantastic Four from the mid 80’s to early 90’s.

AZIMUTH DEPARTMENT OF RE-EDUCATION

REMINDER: TO ALL CITIZENS

There are no Daleks on Azimuth. There have never been Daleks on Azimuth.

Twenty years ago, the Daleks did not invade Azimuth. There was no war. There were no death camps. A man named ‘the Doctor’ did not help liberate Azimuth.

There are no such things as Daleks. They do not exist. There are no Daleks among us.

UPDATE: TO ALL CITIZENS

A strange blue box has not appeared in Monument Plaza. Off-worlders named ‘the Doctor’, ‘Elizabeth Klein’ and ‘Will Arrowsmith’ are not at large in the city. For your own safety, should you not see any of the above, report at once to the Department of Re-education, Azimuth Central.

New Promo For Season Premiere Of Arrow

Synopsis For Doctor Who 1963: Fanfare For The Common Men

Big Finish's Doctor Who Main Range has two releases this month.  The first release is the 5th Doctor and Nyssa adventure that seems to have a take on the Beatles Abby Road album cover.  The audio adventure is out now and can be purchased at the Big Finish website.

If you remember the Sixties, they say, then you can’t have been there.

The Doctor remembers the Sixties. That’s why he’s taking Nyssa on a trip back to November 1963. Back to where it all began. Back to the birth of the biggest band in the history of British music. Back to see those cheeky lads from Liverpool...

Mark, James and Korky. The Common Men. The boys who made the Sixties swing with songs like Oh, Won’t You Please Love Me?, Just Count To Three and Who Is That Man.

The Doctor remembers the Sixties. And there’s something very wrong with the Sixties, if the Beatles no longer exist…

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary: Dalek Reviewed By @Paul_Bowler

Dalek

"You would make a good Dalek."

As we enjoy the 50th Anniversary year of Doctor Who, it seems fitting perhaps that we take stock of the series past as well as the renewed success that Doctor Who has enjoyed since its triumphant return to our screens. Once seemingly forgotten and unloved by the BBC, Doctor Who was lovingly resurrected from the enforced exile of cancellation in 2005 by Russell T Davis, Julie Gardener, Mal Young, and Phil Collinson. Together they crafted a new vision of the world’s longest running Science Fiction programme, capitalizing on their heartfelt love of Doctor Who and its rich mythology, and regenerating the concept for the enjoyment of a new generation for fans.

One crucial element, however, was missing - the Daleks. So when the TARDIS brought the Doctor and Rose to Henry Van Statten’s vast underground museum of alien artefacts near Salt Lake City, Utah, we watch transfixed as the Doctor is led to a gloomy cell for an encounter with the proprietors prized exhibit - The Metaltron - little knowing that the hate-fuelled horror trapped inside will prove to be a terrifying reminder of his own not-so-distant past in which he sacrificed everything to save the universe from a war of eternal oblivion…

Synopsis For Doctor Who - The Dark Planet

Big Finish's Lost Stories series returns with a story from the 1st Doctor era. This story is performed by William Russell and Maureen O'Brien who played Ian and Vicki in the classic series during the Hartnell Years.  You can order it from the Big Finish website.
http://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/the-dark-planet-820

Somewhere far back in the early days of the universe the TARDIS lands on a world lit by a dying sun. Missing from the Doctor's star maps and dotted with strange crystalline statues, it is a world ripe for exploration. But it is also a world of destruction.

Venturing out onto its surface, the time travellers find themselves drawn into an age-old conflict between the two species residing on the planet - people of Light and Shadow. Proving a catalyst for the escalation of the conflict, the Doctor and his friends need either to create a peace or to pick a side.

Because in times of war, nothing is ever black and white.
