JANUARY 15, MILWAUKIE, OR—As announced at Comic-Con International 2013, Aron Warner, the Academy Award–winning producer of Shrek, is bringing his acclaimed webcomic Pariah to Dark Horse Comics!

Pariah is cowritten by Aron Warner and Philip Gelatt (Petrograd), with artwork by Eisner-nominated painter Brett Weldele (The Surrogates). Volume 1, which collects the webcomic, is available in bookstores everywhere today. 

In Pariah, genetically engineered geniuses known as vitros are labeled a terrorist cell after an explosion at a military weapons lab. The vitros are rounded up and left on a decrepit satellite orbiting Earth. Now they must band together and use their supergenius abilities to get back to Earth safely.

Pariah will also see a brand-new, eight-issue miniseries beginning next month!

The Musketeers: Luke Pasqualino On Playing D'Artagnan

We are on our penultimate interview with Luke Pasqualino as he talks to the BBC Media Centre about playing D'Artagnan in The Musketeers.  The Musketeers airs tomorrow at 9PM on BBC One.

What attracted you to the show? 

First off, it’s definitely the fact that it's The Musketeers - something I used to watch when I was a kid - Dogtanian and the Muskehounds and all that kind of stuff. I knew the story and the characters so the fact I was able to go in with the feeling I understood the premise was a big attraction. Just to be involved in a BBC drama was great. In my opinion, the BBC are one of the best producers of drama in the world, and it made me incredibly happy to get the opportunity to be one of the leading men in one of their productions.

Did you have to do any preparation in the lead up to the role?

Not really - the only bit of prep I did was watching some of the previous films, for example the Dick Lester one, the one with Charlie Sheen and Kiefer Sutherland, the 2011 one with Logan Lerman. I did that TV research just to see what other people had done and how the Musketeers had been portrayed.

Tell us a bit more about the Boot Camp

The Musketeers: Howard Charles on Playing Porthos

Its Friday we we are down to the last three interviews which will conclude on Sunday.  Today we head for the home stretch with Howard Charles who talks to the BBC Media Centre about playing Porthos.

What attracted you to the show in the first place?

I thought the writing was brilliant - that was one of the main things. It was the best thing that I personally had read in some time. The character of Porthos is amazing. I spoke to Adrian Hodges, the lead writer and executive producer and he mentioned that he wanted to pay homage to Alexandre Dumas Senior (the father of the novelist) with Porthos by using some elements of the novel, but also from the personal history of Alexandre Dumas Senior - a soldier in the French army who rose to the rank of General, when there weren’t many mixed-race people around in uniform, so of course I was really attracted to that element.

Instead of the fat, drunk gambler, he wanted to make Porthos a true warrior in the group, paying homage to such a great figure in history. That was hugely attractive to me. Porthos is someone who enjoys life to the full because he knows the value and fragility of it. He was born in darkness and found the light. Becoming a musketeer is very much the zenith of his attainment. It means everything to him. Adrian has really captured that and allowed me to play with that I always read the source material and I love what Adrian added to that, the way he has made it his own and his fearlessness in collaboration.

Apart from reading the source material, what preparation did you do for the part?

More Doctor Who Episodes Found.... but Not Missing Ones!

Ian Levine, one of the original missing episode hunters responsible for saving many of the early lost Doctor Who recovery efforts of the 70's, has reported that more stray Doctor Who film cans located around the world.  A collector named Keith Perron and Levine have found 5 more episodes in Taiwan including "The Enemy of the World" part 6.  Less than a year ago, this episode was still not in the BBC archive but a recent return of the complete story of "The Enemy of the World" makes this recent Levine find obsolete.  Also found episodes 1 and 3 of "The Ambassadors of Death", "Keys of Marinus" pt. 6 and "The Krotons" pt 3.

Doctor Who - North American Release Date For The Web of Fear DVD

 

For those wondering when North America would get the DVD's of the two returned Patrick Troughton stories your wait is half over.  The Web of Fear will get its North American release on April 22nd.  This is kind of strange to be releasing this story first as Enemy of the World cliffhanger leads right into part one of The Web of Fear and has already had a Canadian release around Christmas.  No word on what they plan to do with the missing episode three as I doubt it will be animated and so far it has not been returned to the BBC.  There will not be any extras as this will be a bare bones release.

Holy DVD Set Batman!! Batman '66 To Be Released On DVD Finally!!!

In what has been a long time coming for fans of the Adam West Batman series that ran from 1966 to 1968 a DVD box set is finally on the way.   For some reason Conan O'Brien found this out and tweeted about it and it was indeed confirmed that in 2014 a DVD box set will be released with the entire series on it.  So fans of the the campy Batman series get ready 2014 will be your year.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will distribute the long-awaited BATMAN live-action television series (1966-68) as a complete box set later in 2014.

Thomas Kretschmann Cast As Baron Von Strucker In Avengers 2

 

Thomas Kretschmann has been cast as the second villain that Joss Whedon has alluded to for the second Avengers movie. Thomas Kretschmann will be playing Baron Von Strucker who is a Captain America villain and who is a Nazi who was around when the Red Skull was in control of the Reich.  Stucker also works for Hydra so it will be interesting if this angle will be explored in the film. 

Thomas Kretschmann is currently playing Abraham Van Helsing in NVC's Dracula.

The Musketeers: Santiago Cabrera Talks About Playing Aramis

We continue with The Musketeers interview with one today with another of the The Musketeers.  This time it is Santiago Cabrera who plays Aramis who talks to the BBC Media Centre about the new series premiering Sunday.

Can you tell us a little about your character?

I play Aramis, who is one of the king’s Musketeers, who D’Artagnan meets in the first episode. He has got that Joie de Vivre, he is someone who relishes life, loves what he does and lives life to the full. He is a daredevil but also, like the other Musketeers, he can be a very lonely character.
The Musketeers are sacrificing a normal life to do what they do – fight for the cause, the king and France. He is definitely a lover of women – he has a lot of romances – and with that has some really interesting storylines in the first two episodes. He is introduced to Adele, the Cardinal’s mistress, so he likes going into dangerous territory.

Can you tell us how we are first introduced to him as a character?

Here is a pretty cool documentary about the 50th Anniversary and the fans that celebrated it.  But more importantly it will focus on the changing face of Doctor Who fandom. Doctor Who - Roger Lloyd Pack Who Played John Lumic Has Died

Roger Lloyd pack who is more famous for playing Trigger in Only Fools and Horse has passed away.  He is more noticeable to Doctor Who fans for playing John Lumic in the David Tennant story Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel.  He also played Barty Crouch Sr. in Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire in which David Tennant played Barty Crouch Jr. You can read the full story at this link.

Doctor Who - "Tales of Trenzalore" Book Synopsis

Here is an interesting eBook that is coming out in February and later as a paperback. it is about what The Doctor did while he was stuck on Trenzalore and fighting off the different invasions.
