"Of Gods and Men" was an exception - where no fans have gone before, you might say. It managed to bring together everyone from original Trek legends Nichelle Nichols and Walter Koenig to trivia-question answers Lawrence Montaigne (Stonn from "Amok Time") and William Wellman Jr. (Charlie Evans from "Charlie X"). Add Ethan Phillips, Ciroc Lofton, J.G. Hertzler, Grace Lee Whitney, Garrett Wang, Tim Russ, Alan Ruck, Chase Masterson and others, and you have the makings of, at the very least, a great reunion party.
Making the party even better is that the story was bolstered by a strong script and special effects far superior to the original series. Why take our word for it, though? You can watch it here.
Now, many of the crew are back together for "Star Trek: Renegades." It's a work in progress. And it's being produced as a possible pilot - yes, we said pilot - for an online series.
According to the project's web site:
Renegades will be a departure from previous Treks – delving into the dark side of the human psyche, pushing our heroes to their limits, forcing them to carry out actions that they never would have as Starfleet officers. The rules have changed, and they realize they might be the last hope to save the Federation. "Star Trek: Renegades" will be action oriented, filled with suspense and espionage; all while exploring new worlds, encountering both familiar and new alien species, and boldly going where no Trek has gone before.Beam us up, indeed.
