Doctor Who - Steven Moffat To Step Down After Series 10 To Be Replaced By Chris Chibnall
It was announced tonight that Steven Moffat will step down as showrunner and executive producer after Series 10 which will air in the Spring of 2017. There will only be a Christmas Special this year as they want to hold back the next series due to the Olympics and Euro 16. Chris Chibnall has been tapped as Steven Moffat's successor and his series will air in 2018. Steven Moffat had this to say about his leaving a show that he's over seen for six series.
“Feels odd to be talking about leaving when I’m just starting work on the scripts for season 10, but the fact is my timey-wimey is running out. While Chris is doing his last run of Broadchurch, I’ll be finishing up on the best job in the universe and keeping the TARDIS warm for him. It took a lot of gin and tonic to talk him into this, but I am beyond delighted that one of the true stars of British Television drama will be taking the Time Lord even further into the future. At the start of season 11, Chris Chibnall will become the new showrunner of Doctor Who. And I will be thrown in a skip.”Here is what new showrunner Chris Chibnall had to say about his appointment to over see Doctor Who.
"Doctor Who is the ultimate BBC programme: bold, unique, vastly entertaining, and adored all around the world. So it's a privilege and a joy to be the next curator of this funny, scary and emotional family drama. I’ve loved Doctor Who since I was four years old, and I’m relishing the thought of working with the exceptional team at BBC Wales to create new characters, creatures and worlds for the Doctor to explore. Steven’s achieved the impossible by continually expanding Doctor Who's creative ambition, while growing its global popularity. He’s been a dazzling and daring showrunner, and hearing his plans and stories for 2017, it’s clear he’ll be going out with a bang. Just to make my life difficult."So 2016 will only see a Christmas Special and 2017 will see the return of the show in the Spring where it was on for most of its revival. Here's to Series 10 and lets hope Steven Moffat makes his last series memorable for all the right reasons.
Doctor Who - Big Finish News On Torchwood and The War Doctor
Last weekend was Big Finish Day 8 and at their convention they released some Doctor Who and Torchwood audio adventures news. First the big news that The War Doctor will be meeting Leela in the 4th War Doctor Box Set which will be out in February of 2017. If you have ever wondered what happened to Leela during the Time War then this volume of The War Doctor adventures is the one you've been waiting for.
For fans of Torchwood when the first series of audios ends in February the second series will start up in March with a John Barrowman Captain Jack adventure taking place in Victorian times. But the big news is that Naoko Mori will return as Tosh in April. This is good news for Torchwood fans as almost everyone of the original cast has returned. Now all we need is Burn Gorman to come back as Owen.
For fans of the new UNIT adventures by Big Finish it was announced at Big Finish day that the second box set will come out in May and they have released the cover art for it. It stars Jemma Redgrave as Kate Stewart and Ingrid Oliver as Osgood and this time they are going up against a new alien race set on invading Earth. The Tengobushi is the name of the new alien race and you can get a look at them on the cover. UNIT: Shutdown will be out in May and will be a four disc box set.

Doctor Who - Details on The Churchill Years
Out now is a box set of four stories that feature Winston Churchill and his encounters with The Doctor. Ian McNeice reprises his role as Winston Churchill and narrates the stories. You can get this release from the Big Finish website.
http://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/the-churchill-years-volume-01-1314
1. The Oncoming Storm by Phil Mulryne
Late 1939. Britain faces the might of Germany. Winston Churchill serves as First Lord of the Admiralty. But Churchill soon finds himself facing a more immediate threat than the looming Nazi menace. A ‘Stone’ with the most mysterious properties is discovered in the Thames’ sands, and soon oddly spoken soldiers are creeping round London ruthlessly trying to acquire it. Who are they? Can Churchill and his new secretary Hetty Warner defeat them? And what about the man in the battered leather jacket that Hetty meets? Churchill feels sure they can rely on the Doctor to help them! Except that this Doctor seems to want to stay hidden in the shadows…
2. Hounded by Alan Barnes
In the dark days of 1941, Britain is in the midst of war. Churchill must stand strong against the might of the enemy – but he is plagued by a darkness in his own psyche. Something he calls ‘the Black Dog’.
Can a visiting Swami hold the answer to his troubles? And can Hetty Warner prevent the Prime Minister's adversaries from taking advantage of the situation?
Across London, the Tenth Doctor's arrival may be the nation's only hope – but the Time Lord's plan to help his friend is endangered when he finds himself declared a traitor by the agents of the country he has come to protect...
3. Living History by Justin Richards
Finally given the chance to travel in the TARDIS, Winston Churchill cannot resist the opportunity of meeting Julius Caesar. But the trip does not go quite as planned. With the TARDIS gone, and Churchill stranded in ancient Britain with a young man he barely knows and who comes from the future, it seems things can hardly get any worse.
Until he is captured by the invading Romans.
Still, at least that means Churchill will meet Julius Caesar after all. But then Churchill learns of the Bronze God, feared and worshipped by the Ancient Britons. A god that he recognises as anything but divine when he meets it.
4. The Chartwell Metamorphosis by Ken Bentley
Comfortably retired to his home at Chartwell, Churchill plans to live out his days in peace, in the company of his butterflies – if his attendants would just leave him alone.
But it isn't simply Lepidoptera breeding in the gardens, as a far more sinister species is about to emerge from its cocoon – and is ready to feast on something more than just the shrubberies.
Surrounded on all sides, the former Prime Minister must put a life's worth of experience into action in order to win the day. Can his new nurse Lily Arwell offer her assistance?

Doctor Who - Torchwood: Fall to Earth Review (Spoilers)
Torchwood:
Fall to Earth
By James Goss
Starring Gareth David - Lloyd
Ianto is on a spaceship that is kind of like an airline plane and he is the only one alive. Bad news is that the ship is crashing down to Earth and well no one from Torchwood is answering their phone today. As luck would have it his phone rings and it is a woman selling insurance. Ianto uses this phone call to help him fly the ship and also to keep him from blacking out as Ianto has lost a lot of blood from a leg injury. It turns out Ianto remembers an explosion and that the passengers were also starting to die from a poison in the food or drink. The Committee appears to be in charge of this terrorist attack and the worse thing is the ship is projected to crash where Zeyneb works as she is employed by Ephraim Salt the person who is now dead on the ship and also owns the building that the ship will crash into. Just a normal day for the guy who gets the coffee.

Doctor Who Magazine 495 Cover and Details
Out today is the latest Doctor Who Magazine and the cover has Alex Kingston on it where she is interviewed about her Big Finish audio adventure release for River Song. Below is all the details of this months magazine.
The new issue of Doctor Who Magazine finds out what happens when River Song runs into the Eighth Doctor in the new audio series The Diary of River Song – and interviews both Paul McGann and Alex Kingston who says
River has to interact with the Eighth Doctor to save him, to help him. When she’s figured out how she can do that without having to be physically present in front of him, alongside helping him, she can then tease and flirt a little bit, because she knows she’s safe, and she knows she hasn’t overstepped a boundary, or changed his or her future in any way by that actual physical interaction. So she can then have fun! She’s in control.
And what does the Eighth Doctor make of River?
What the Doctor says to River when he realises her acumen, her calibre, is ‘Wow, hang on a minute – where did you pick up all this?! For an amateur, you ain’t half clever'. He says, ‘Any time you fancy joining me, I could always do with a pair of hands’. He realises, almost instantly, how clever she is. ‘If you’re ever stuck for a trip round the universe helping me out, you’re on.’ So there’s that lovely playfulness as well. Of course, he’s doing it in blissful ignorance. And she’s trying not to appear too clever, and give the game away, but of course she has to save his life. So it’s great. It’s childish, but it’s great fun.

Sherlock - The Abominable Bride Review
We take a detour from our Who news to look at the Sherlock New Year's special by Doctor Who Show Runner and writers Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss.
Sherlock:
The Abominable Bride
By Steven Moffat and Mark
Gatiss
“Rest assured there are no ghosts in this world. Save those we make for ourselves”
After a long wait and a lot of speculation on what the New Year’s Day special would be about for the critically acclaimed Sherlock series by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss has finally been shown on our TV Screens. We now know the answers to all our speculations and was it worth the long wait since 2014 when the show was last on? Most fans would say yes and for me the lure was seeing the main cast set in Victorian times and yes this special was pretty good if not a tad confusing at times.
Doctor Who - Details For Guardians of the Dead
This month's download only release from Big Finish features the 5th Doctor and is narrated by Mark Strickson who played Turlough during the Peter Davison era. This story appears to take place between Mawdryn Undead and Terminus and definitely has me intrigued. You can get this audio adventure from the Big Finish website.
http://www.bigfinish.com/releases/v/gardens-of-the-dead-1344
Turlough has joined the TARDIS - the snake in the orchard - and is trying, with limited success, to gain the others' trust.
But when they land in the Gardens of the Dead, the whole team - Nyssa, Tegan and Turlough - will have to join forces and fight together to keep the Doctor safe. And discover what is behind the very last door in the TARDIS.
