Playing now at an iPhone near you - an app that helps you track new movies

Tired of searching YouTube for the latest trailers of upcoming films? Tired of missing movies that play just a week or two before they disappear from your local theater?

Jennifer Von Grove of Mashable is reporting on a new iPhone application, Can't Wait!, which "pushes new movie trailers to your phone, helps you share your favorites and reminds you when they hit theaters."

For you, it saves time.

For the application's creators, it's another way to promote their films that is different from other applications. According to Can’t Wait! co-founder Eric Florenzano:

“If you look at all apps out there, they’re all about what’s out right now ... It’s a useful thing … they’re totally tailored for when you’re in the mood to see a movie. What we’re trying to do is be all about what’s coming up … it’s a fundamentally different experience.”

 Here's how it works:

Connect to Facebook or Twitter to create an account, then you use the iPhone app to find and watch movie trailers for upcoming feature films. If something catches your eye, click the “Can’t Wait” button to share the activity with your social network friends. The application will later follow up with a reminder when the movie premieres in theaters, and you can choose to purchase tickets in-app via Fandango.

Florenzano says the free application has been downloaded 10,000 times since its August release. With 24 ratings at the App Store, Can't Wait! was ranked at 4.5 stars out of 5.
