Town councilor in North Carolina submits resignation in Klingon

Worf, no doubt, would not be amused.
A true Klingon warrior would never utter the words "I quit."

A human writing in Klingon? Well, that's another story.

Media reports say that David Waddell used the Klingon language to write his letter of resignation from the Indian Trail Town Council in North Carolina.

Waddell said he chose Klingon as an inside joke. “Folks don’t know what to think of me half the time,” he told the Charlotte Observer, so “I might as well have one last laugh” on the board.

Mayor Michael Alvarez, who was not amused, had a different opinion. “It’s an embarrassment for Indian Trail, and it’s an embarrassment for North Carolina,” he said.

Waddell is resigning early from a four-year term that was due to end in December 2015. He said he needs time for his write-in campaign against U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan.

As the Charlotte Observer put it, Waddell apparently "no longer wanted to live long and prosper on the board."

In case you're wondering what a letter in Klingon looks like:
